This study aimed to translate the MASA into Turkish (T-MASA) and to assess its reliability and validity in patients during the early period after a stroke . Materials and methods: The scale was administered to 141 patients in the early period after a stroke. For reliability, both internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha and corrected item-to-total correlations) and interrater reliability were analyzed. The procedures were scored by two blinded independent …

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

Background/aim: Blood pressure (BP) variability is more closely associated with adverse outcomes than 'usual' BP in the general population. Residual renal function (RRF) and left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) are thought to be predictors of poor outcome in dialysis patients. However, only a few studies have focused on BP variation and its link to RRF, LVH, and outcome in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients. therefore, we aimed to explore the e ect of visit-to-visit BP variability on RRF and LVH in continuous ambulatory PD (CAPD) patients. Materials and methods: We performed an observational study that included all prevalent PD patients between 1 …

Background/aim: In micropenis cases accompanied by external genital abnormalities such as hypospadias and cryptorchidism, infertility and spermatogenic failures have been reported to correlate with androgen receptor (AR) gene CAG and GGN repeat polymorphisms. While there is one study on isolated micropenis and CAG repeats, no study related to GGN repeats has been reported. We investigated the relation between CAG and GGN repeats in the AR gene with development of penis length in boys with isolated micropenis. Materials and methods: A total of 24 Turkish boys with isolated micropenis (

Background/aim: e aim of this study was to combine some easy and economical de ned methods and constitute a comprehensive cell culture model to use in the bowel diseases characterized by in ammation. Materials and methods: Induction of inflammation was performed using lipopolysaccharide (LPS) or a cytokine mixture (TNF-?: 10 ng/mL; IFN-?: 100 ng/mL; IL-1ß: 1 ng/mL). IEC-6 cells were grown to con uence and serum-starved, wounds were constituted, and progress of cell migration into the wounds was photographed at 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 24 h in the presence or absence of an in ammatory environment. …
