Abstract

Objective: To compare the presence of intellectual wellness awareness in students of public and private sector

medical colleges in a metropolitan city.

Methods: The cross-sectional questionnaire-based survey was conducted from March to November 2011 at Bahria

University Medical and Dental College, Karachi, and overall covered five private and 3 public sector medical colleges of the

city. The study randomly selected 800 medical students. The responses -- never, sometimes, mostly and always (numbered

0-4) - were analysed in terms of frequency, proportion and percentages using Predictive Analysis Software version 18.

We propose a mediated certificateless encryption scheme without pairing operations for securely sharing sensitive information in public clouds. Mediated certificateless public key encryption (mCL-PKE) solves the key escrow problem in identity based encryption and certificate revocation problem in public key cryptography. However, existing mCL-PKE schemes are either inefficient because of the use of expensive pairing operations or vulnerable against partial decryption attacks. In order to address the performance and security issues, in this paper, we first propose a mCL-PKE scheme without using pairing operations. This project evaluated the antimicrobial activity of whey samples and its potential as a new sanitising agent. Whey samples produced during the manufacture of various cheese types were tested. Different thermal treatments (65°C for 10, 20 and 30 minutes, 72°C for 15 sec and 121°C for 15 minutes) were applied to the whey samples. Phosphatidylinositol bisphosphate (PIP2) regulates the activities of many membrane proteins including ion channels through direct interactions. However, the affinity of PIP2 is so high for some channel proteins that its physiological role as a modulator has been questioned. Here we show that PIP2 is an important cofactor for activation of small conductance Ca2+-activated potassium channels (SK) by Ca2+-bound calmodulin (CaM). Removal of the endogenous PIP2 inhibits SK channels. The PIP2-binding site resides at the interface of CaM and the SK C-terminus. We further demonstrate that the affinity of PIP2 for its target proteins can be regulated by cellular signaling. Phosphorylation …

Objective—Program implementers have argued that the increasing availability of anti-retroviral therapy (ART) will reduce the stigma of HIV. We analyzed data from Uganda to assess how HIV-related stigma has changed during a period of ART expansion.

Design—Serial cross-sectional surveys.

Methods—We analyzed data from the Uganda AIDS Rural Treatment Outcomes (UARTO) study during 2007-2012 to estimate trends in internalized stigma among people living with HIV (PLHIV) at the time of treatment initiation. วัตถุประสงค์: เพื่อศึกษาผลของโปรแกรมการส่งเสริมสมรรถนะแห่งตนต่อพฤติกรรมการบริโภคอาหาร และพฤติกรรมการออกกกําลังกายของสตรีก่อนวัยทอง\n \nรูปแบบการวิจัย: การวิจัยแบบกึ่งทดลอง\n\n วิธีดําเนินการวิจัย: กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ สตรีก่อนวัยทองอายุ 30-45 ปี ที่มีคุณสมบัติตามกําหนด จํานวน 66 คน คัดเลือกโดยการสุ่มอย่างง่าย แบ่งเป็นกลุ่มทดลองและกลุ่มควบคุมกลุ่มละ 33 คน กลุ่มทดลอง ได้รับโปรแกรมการส่งเสริมสมรรถนะแห่งตน และกลุ่มควบคุมได้รับการพยาบาลตามปกติ เครื่องมือที่ ใช้ในการทดลอง คือ โปรแกรมการส่งเสริมสมรรถนะแห่งตน ประกอบด้วย คู่มือการดูแลตนเองสําหรับ สตรีก่อนวัยทอง แผนการสอน และคู่มือการดําเนินกิจกรรม เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล คือ แบบสอบถามพฤติกรรมการบริโภคอาหาร และแบบสอบถามพฤติกรรมการออกกําลังกาย มีค่า CVI เท่ากับ .80 และ .87 มีค่าสัมประสิทธิ์แอลฟ่าของครอนบาค (Cronbach's alpha coefficient)\nเท่ากับ . 80 และ . 84 วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยหาค่าเฉลี่ย ร้อยละ ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และสถิติทดสอบค่าที่ ผลการวิจัย: 1) สตรีก่อนวัยทองที่ได้รับโปรแกรมการส่งเสริมสมรรถนะแห่งตน มีคะแนนพฤติกรรม การบริโภคอาหารและพฤติกรรมการออกกําลังกาย สูงกว่าก่อนได้รับโปรแกรมฯ อย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .01 และ 2) สตรีก่อนวัยทองที่ได้รับโปรแกรมการส่งเสริมสมรรถนะแห่งตน มีคะแนน พฤติกรรมการบริโภคอาหารและพฤติกรรมการออกกําลังกาย สูงกว่ากลุ่มที่ได้รับการพยาบาลตามปกติ อย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติ .01\n\nสรุป: โปรแกรมการส่งเสริมสมรรถนะแห่งตนส่งผลต่อพฤติกรรมการรับประทานอาหารและพฤติกรรม การออกกําลังกายในสตรีก่อนวัยทอง ทําให้เกิดการปรับเปลี่ยนพฤติกรรมในทางบวก โดยมีพฤติกรรมการ รับประทานอาหารและพฤติกรรมการออกกําลังกายที่เหมาะสมเพิ่มขึ้น\n

วัตถุประสงค์: เพื่อศึกษาผลของโปรแกรมการพยาบาลระบบสนับสนุนและให้ความรู้ผ่านทางบทเรียน คอมพิวเตอร์ช่วยสอนต่อพฤติกรรมการตรวจเต้านมด้วยตนเองของนักศึกษาหญิงในระดับปริญญาตรี \n\nรูปแบบการวิจัย: การวิจัยกึ่งทดลอง วิธีดําเนินการวิจัย: กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ นักศึกษาหญิงในระดับปริญญาตรี จํานวน 60 ราย แบ่งเป็นกลุ่ม ทดลองและกลุ่มควบคุม กลุ่มละ 30 ราย กลุ่มควบคุมได้รับแผ่นพับวิธีการตรวจเต้านมด้วยตนเอง กลุ่มทดลองได้รับโปรแกรมการพยาบาลระบบสนับสนุนและให้ความรู้ผ่านทางบทเรียนคอมพิวเตอร์ช่วยสอน โดยจับคู่ ระดับความรู้เรื่องโรคมะเร็งเต้านม และการตรวจเต้านมด้วยตนเอง เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการทดลอง คือ โปรแกรมการพยาบาลระบบสนับสนุนและให้ความรู้ผ่านทางบทเรียนคอมพิวเตอร์ช่วยสอน เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลโดย แบบสอบถามข้อมูลส่วนบุคคล และแบบสอบถามพฤติกรรมการตรวจเต้านมด้วย ตนเอง ซึ่งผ่านการตรวจสอบความตรงเชิงเนื้อหาโดยผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิ 5 คน มีค่าดัชนีความตรงตามเนื้อหา (CVI) เท่ากับ .83 ตรวจสอบความเที่ยงโดยหาค่าสัมประสิทธิ์อัลฟ่าของครอนบาคได้เท่ากับ .93 สถิติที่ใช้ ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และสถิติทดสอบที (t-test)\n\nผลการวิจัย: 1) ค่าเฉลี่ยคะแนนพฤติกรรมการตรวจเต้านมด้วยตนเองของกลุ่มทดลองภายหลังได้รับ โปรแกรมการพยาบาลระบบสนับสนุนและให้ความรู้ผ่านทางบทเรียนคอมพิวเตอร์ช่วยสอน สูงกว่าก่อน ได้รับโปรแกรมฯ อย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 และ 2) ค่าเฉลี่ยคะแนนพฤติกรรมการตรวจเต้านม ด้วยตนเองของกลุ่มทดลองสูงกว่ากลุ่มควบคุมอย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05\n \nสรุป: โปรแกรมการพยาบาลระบบสนับสนุนและให้ความรู้ผ่านทางบทเรียนคอมพิวเตอร์ช่วยสอนส่งผล ให้นักศึกษาหญิงในระดับปริญญาตรีมีพฤติกรรมการตรวจเต้านมด้วยตนเองเพิ่มขึ้นและเพิ่มมากกว่าการ ให้ความรู้ทางแผ่นพับ\n

เหตุผลของการทำวิจัย : ความต้องการทางปัญญาเป็นแนวโน้มที่บุคคลจะชอบและทำกิจกรรมที่ต้องใช้ความคิด เนื่องด้วยเป็นปัจจัยในตัวบุคคลก็น่าสนใจว่านิสิตจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัยมีความต้องการทางปัญญาเป็นอย่างไร และปัจจัยใดบ้างมีผลต่อความต้องการทางปัญญาเพื่อใช้เป็นข้อมูลเบื้องต้นในการค้นหาแนวทางส่งเสริมความสามารถของนิสิตต่อไปวัตถุประสงค์ : เพื่อประเมินระดับความต้องการทางปัญญาและศึกษาปัจจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องกับความต้องการทางปัญญาของนิสิตจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัยรูปแบบการวิจัย : การศึกษาวิจัย ณ จุดเวลาใดเวลาหนึ่งสถานที่ทำการศึกษา : จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัยตัวอย่างและวิธีการศึกษา : ตัวอย่าง คือ นิสิตที่กำลังศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรีชั้นปีที่ 1จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย จำนวน 840 คน เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลโดยใช้แบบสอบถามทั่วไปและแบบวัดความต้องการทางปัญญาวิเคราะห์ระดับความต้องการทางปัญญาใช้สถิติเชิงพรรณนา และวิเคราะห์ปัจจัยใช้ t-test, One-way ANOVA และMultiple LinearRegression Analysisผลการศึกษา : นิสิตชั้นปีที่ 1 จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ส่วนใหญ่มีความต้องการทางปัญญาอยู่ในระดับสูง โดยเพศชายมีความต้องการทางปัญญามากกว่าเพศหญิง (B = -1.39, p = .001, 95%CI= -2.20, -.58)กลุ่มคณะวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี มีอิทธิพลต่อคะแนนความต้องการทางปัญญาในเชิงบวกสูงที่สุดเมื่อเทียบกับกลุ่มวิทยาศาสตร์สุขภาพ (B = 2.201, p = <.001, 95%CI = 1.22, 3.18) และเกรดเฉลี่ยก็มีอิทธิพลต่อความต้องการทางปัญญาในเชิงบวกใกล้ระดับมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (B =.601, p = .056, 95%CI = .02, 1.22)สรุป : นิสิตมีความต้องการทางปัญญาในระดับสูง และปัจจัยที่สามารถทำนายความต้องการทางปัญญา ได้แก่ เพศ กลุ่มคณะที่กำลังศึกษาอยู่ และเกรดเฉลี่ย.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the longitudinal effect of marijuana and heavy alcohol use on the productivity status of nonmetropolitan African American young adults. This analysis was based on secondary data from the Family and Community Health Study. For alcohol, the study evaluated the effects on productivity status for individuals with heavy alcohol use trajectories from adolescence into young adulthood while marijuana effects were evaluated during the period when adolescents are more likely to have initiated usage (14-16 years of age). We tested the hypothesis that activation of inwardly rectifying potassium (K_IR) channels and Na⁺-K⁺-ATPase, two pathways that lead to hyperpolarization of vascular cells, contributes to both the onset and steady-state hyperemic response to exercise. We also determined whether after inhibiting these pathways nitric oxide (NO) and prostaglandins (PGs) are involved in the hyperemic response. We examined the experiences of women in treatment for substance dependence and their treatment providers about personal networks and recovery. We conducted six focus groups at three women’s intensive substance abuse treatment programs. Four coders used thematic analysis to guide the data coding and an iterative process to identify major themes. Coders identified social network characteristics that enabled and impeded recovery and a reciprocal relationship between internal states, relationship management, and recovery. Although women described adding individuals to their networks, they also described managing existing relationships through distancing from or isolating some members to diminish their negative impact on recovery. …

UNLABELLED: The factors that determine CD4+ T cell (TCD4+) specificities, functional capacity, and memory persistence in response to complex pathogens remain unclear. We explored these parameters in the C57BL/6 mouse through comparison of two highly related (>92% homology) poxviruses: ectromelia virus (ECTV), a natural mouse pathogen, and vaccinia virus (VACV), a heterologous virus that nevertheless elicits potent immune responses. Identifying risk factors of neonatal sepsis will help put strategies in place to prevent sepsis. This prospective case control study investigated risk factors of neonatal sepsis in the Asutifi District a typical rural setting of the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana. Ghana is a known endemic area for hepatitis B virus (HBV) infections, yet the consequences of HBV infection on pregnancy outcomes are unknown. This prospective cohort study was thus conducted among 512 pregnant women attending antenatal clinic in the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Ghana, between January, 2011 and December, 2013 to determine the effects of hepatitis B during pregnancy on birth outcomes in Ghana. BACKGROUND: Currently, there is no evidence-based definition for concussion that is being uniformly applied in clinical and research settings.

OBJECTIVE: To conduct a systematic review of the highest-quality literature about concussion and to assemble evidence about the prevalence and associations of key indicators of concussion. The goal was to establish an evidence-based foundation from which to derive, in future work, a definition, diagnostic criteria, and prognostic indicators for concussion.
