Relatively little material has been written about teaching a child to speak. That a child does learn to talk seems well supported by most authorities; and this is based upon experimental evidence. Just how a child can be taught to speak is not so widely discussed. Many writers have ignored this aspect of speech development, and the author is inclined to believe that many parents are completely unaware of it. The number of speech defectives in the country today indicates widespread ignorance of this problem.

The Lancefield Group A hemolytic streptococcus liberates, among other substances, a hemolyzing agent or streptolysin which is capable of activating the production of specific antibodies. Todd separated two distinct streptolysins. He found that streptolysin S was oxygen stable and serum soluble and that streptolysin 0 was oxygen-labile and much more antigenic than the former.

Recent speech surveys conducted in Box Elder County showed that approximately 17% of the elementary school children there had speech defects of such seriousness that they needed clinical attention.

A remedial speech program was organized and remedial speech training given at four schools in Box Elder County.

The purpose of this project was to study this remedial speech program, as it was in operation, in an effort to determine the feasibility and value of such a program.

Studies on the normal and abnormal vascularization of the renal vessels in the domestic cat (felis domestica) indicate the frequency of anomalies that occur, but in most of the studies it is the inferior vena cava that is most often recorded. Among the occasional references to several renal veins or arteries we have Huntington and McClure, Elmer Butler, Gaylord Bates, William Darrach, and C.H. Fortune.
