Methods: The Clinical Services Librarian and Outreach Coordinator at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences proposed a plan to educate the nurse and patient educators in the hospital on reliable consumer health resources. Objective: University of Florida HSCL librarians have long offered information-related instruction through guest lectures in the programs they serve and stand-alone workshops; however, librarians had not taught any credit-bearing courses focused on information literacy prior to 2016. To more fully integrate information-related skills into curricula, librarians developed a one-credit course for graduate students, initially targeting those in basic science programs but expecting that its modular format would allow easy adaptation for other health science programs. The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Value Institute, which falls under the hospital’s Quality Department, has contributed to evidence-based practice (EBP) culture through education, evidence synthesis services, and the development of clinical decision support tools. Three members of the Value Institute -- a librarian, Clinical Evidence-Based Analyst, and Senior Value Specialist -- have taught a variety of EBP courses to clinicians over the years. However, because of increasing course dropout rates, the Value Institute conducted focus groups to identify ways to redesign the course. Marijuana for medical use is now legal in 29 states, but studying the medical effects of marijuana is challenging. Because marijuana is categorized as a DEA Schedule I drug, researchers have encountered difficulty in conducting Randomized Clinical Trials. But research is expanding in this important field. Librarians have a role in raising awareness among healthcare professionals and researchers. Objective: Librarians at Seattle Children’s Hospital and Research Institute, providing a robust mediated literature search service, lacked a collaborative platform for archiving and sharing search strategies and documentation. Available information request management systems traditionally track a library’s reference service workflow. Librarians modified Altarama’s RefTracker Express to improve our search quality, increase efficiency, leverage search expertise, and demonstrate alignment with institutional goals.

The American Association of Colleges of Nurses’ essentials of doctoral education for advanced nursing practice state that a doctoral nursing practice (DNP) program should prepare graduates to “disseminate findings from evidence-based practice and research to improve healthcare outcomes” (2006). Likewise, learning outcomes and course requirements for the DNP program at the University of San Francisco (USF) require students to submit a manuscript to a peer reviewed scholarly journal prior to starting their final project. Objective: Given the increasing need for research data management support and education, the Spokane Academic Library at Washington State University (WSU) sought to determine the data management practices, perceptions and needs of researchers on the WSU Spokane health sciences campus.
