I studied medical malpractice through the lens of Monster Theory, examining how systemic failures, institutional silence, and cultural ideals shape harm in healthcare. Endometriosis is a disease characterized by pelvic pain and the formation of endometrial-like tissue on the outside of the uterine lining. This condition affects nearly 10% of women across the globe and confirming whether someone has endometriosis requires visualization in surgery. While the specific causes of this disease remain unclear, the over-expression of the Galectins 3 and 9 in ectopic endometrial tissues suggests a role in the development and maintenance of the condition. Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) are highly specific proteins with potential as diagnostic or treatment tools. The goal of this study is to generate antibodies against Gal3 and Gal9. …

Cancer remains the second leading cause of death in the United States, underscoring the urgent need for more effective treatment options. Nanotechnology offers innovative solutions through combination nanomedicines that can integrate multiple therapeutic mechanisms into a single platform. In this study, we developed aqueous nanoparticles (NPs) composed of a combined chemotherapeutic agent and photothermal therapy drug,[DOX][IR820], using a simple reprecipitation method. By adjusting different parameters, we tuned NP size and evaluated how this influenced their photophysical behavior, such as absorbance and fluorescence emission, and photothermal therapeutic activity such as light-to-heat conversion efficiency. Antegrade and retrograde intramedullary nailing are widely used for femoral fractures, yet their relative advantages across fracture locations remain debated. This study compares union rates, time to union, malunion, and functional outcomes between approaches, stratified by AO/OTA classification.

Methods:

A systematic review of PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and Scopus (2015 to 2025) was performed. Studies reporting outcomes of antegrade and/or retrograde nailing for proximal (31), diaphyseal (32), and distal (33) femoral fractures were included.
