Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) affects up to 50% of women and can substantially impact physical function, psychological wellbeing, and quality of life. Despite its prevalence, gaps remain in understanding the experiences and support needs of reproductive-age women, particularly within the Irish healthcare context. This thesis aimed to explore the lived experience of women with POP, examine knowledge and care gaps among women and healthcare professionals (HCPs), and develop an intervention to support self- management. A mixed-methods approach was used. After several years of lower scores on the ATI proctored Pharmacology exam, the nursing department separated the pathophysiology/pharmacology course into two separate courses. Goals for the new pharmacology course included (1) focus on what entry-level nursing graduates would need to know about pharmacology to improve end-of-program testing scores and (2) engagement of the learner by scrambling the classroom and utilizing gamification for application practice. Nursing students have limited opportunity to practice interdisciplinary communication or handoff in the clinical setting. The purpose of this learning experience is for students to differentiate between and practice appropriate use of IPASS and ISBARR in a standardized patient during an interactive patient experience using virtual simulation (VSIM), which mimics the complex reality of a clinical patient scenario. Students complete a medical-surgical VSIM independently and then participate in a faculty-guided small group activity where they discuss rationale and prioritization for interventions completed throughout the VSIM. Background: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has been associated with altered zinc homeostasis and disruptions in the gut microbiota. Zinc is a vital trace mineral involved in multiple biological processes such as inflammatory regulation, intestinal integrity, and neurobehavioral function, and has an important role in influencing microbial activity along the gut–brain axis. Both deficiency and excess of zinc can alter microbial balance. Abstract

Background: Electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) use among adults has risen rapidly over the past decade, prompting concern about potential adverse effects on oral health. Although the systemic consequences of e-cigarette exposure have been increasingly studied, effects on the oral mucosa remain less clearly defined. Existing investigations describe a range of oral mucosal findings, but reported outcomes and assessment methods are inconsistent, making it difficult to draw clear conclusions.

Objectives: To systematically review the available evidence examining the association between electronic cigarette use and oral mucosal lesions/alterations in adults, compared with non-users or other tobacco exposure groups.

Purpose: Cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome (CHS) is characterized by cyclic nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain in chronic cannabis users, often relieved by exposure to hot water. Propofol, a widely used GABAergic anesthetic with antiemetic properties, has paradoxically been implicated in exacerbating hyperemetic episodes in some cannabis users. With the growing legalization of marijuana and social acceptance to its recreational use it is believed that this phenomenon will be more ubiquitous to clinicians. This review aims to investigate the mechanistic and clinical evidence linking propofol administration to CHS and to summarize strategies for prevention, diagnosis, and management.

This poster presents a rare case of chondroid syringoma with ossification, representing only the ninth reported instance of bone formation within this adnexal tumor. The report describes a slowly enlarging facial nodule in a 34-year-old male, detailing clinical presentation, surgical excision, and histopathologic findings. Microscopy revealed characteristic epithelial cords and tubules within a myxoid stroma, along with mature lamellar bone formation, confirming the diagnosis. The case expands the known morphologic spectrum of chondroid syringomas and highlights the importance of considering this entity in the differential diagnosis of benign facial masses, particularly when unusual features such as ossification are present.

This poster examines the relationship between clinical symptom scales and electroencephalographic (EEG) biomarkers in patients with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). Participants from inpatient substance use treatment facilities completed validated mental health and withdrawal assessments, including the COWS, PHQ-9, HAM-A, and ASRS followed by cognitive testing while undergoing 19-lead EEG recording.

Preliminary findings indicate that synthetic opioid use is associated with prolonged P300 response latency across brain regions, suggesting measurable neurophysiologic differences tied to substance type and addiction severity. Objective: To quantify transparency gaps in orthodontic randomized controlled trials by linking trial registry records to publications and characterizing timing of registration, publication delay, and selective outcome reporting signals using automated text-based methods.
Methods: A retrospective computational audit was designed around trial registries (e.g., ClinicalTrials.gov and other major registries used in orthodontics) and bibliographic records. Registry entries marked completed were programmatically screened for publication linkage using identifier matching (e.g., registration IDs) and document-similarity approaches aligned with prior registry-publication linkage research. Potassium-chloride cotransporter 2 (KCC2) works in opposition to Na-K-Cl cotransporter 1 (NKCC1) to maintain low intracellular chloride concentrations in neurons. In immature neurons, there are high levels of NKCC1 and low levels of KCC2, which creates a high intracellular chloride concentration. Increased KCC2, therefore decreased chloride concentration, creates a GABA switch, switching immature neurons to mature neurons. This changes the activity of GABA from excitatory to inhibitory. Decreased KCC2 has been found to be correlated with reward seeking behaviors in the dopaminergic circuitry. Our study aims to artificially upregulate KCC2 and therefore decrease chloride concentrations in neurons. Objectives: This review aims to examine the overall effects of e-cigarettes on oral health, including its associations with xerostomia, dental caries, periodontal disease, and oral cancer.

Methods: A systematic review was conducted using databases like PubMed, ScienceDirect, NIH, and MDPI, analyzing many studies published between 2010-2025. Inclusion criteria consisted of peer-reviewed human and in-vitro studies that evaluated the oral effects of e-cigarettes. Studies were screened for correlation to caries formation, salivary changes, mucosal alterations, microbiome disruptions, and carcinogenic potential.

Results: A total of fifteen studies were included. Findings across studies showed that e-cigarettes reduce salivary flow rates and …
