The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of capsaicin administration immunohistochemically on platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF)-C and platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR)-\alpha release in the small intestine tissues of rats. Rats were divided into three groups: group 1 (subcutaneous drug administration), group 2 (oral drug administration), and group 3 (subcutaneous sham administration). This study was carried out to assess the effect of the chemical substances of Salix babylonica (SB) extract on in vitro rumen fermentation of five mixed rations with different maize silage to concentrate ratios. Fifty-nine compounds were identified in SB extract using the retention time and mass spectral technique. Interactive effects were noted (P < 0.001) for the asymptotic gas production (GP) (b), the rate of production (c), the initial delay before GP begins (L), pH, dry matter digestibility, metabolizable energy (ME), organic matter digestibility (OMD), short chain fatty acids (SCFAs), gas yield at 24 h (GY_{24}), microbial crude protein, and in vitro GP. Both 1.2 and 1.8 mL SB/g DM had the highest (P < 0.05) b and c values. Addition of 1.2 and 1.8 mL SB/g DM linearly improved (P < 0.001) ME, OMD, SCFAs, and GY24. It could be concluded that, based on the highly detected interaction effects between ration types and extract doses for fermentation parameters and GP, the most effective dose of SB varied between incubated total mixed rations. However, the ration of 25% silage and 75% concentrate had the highest nutritive value, especially at doses of 1.2 to 1.8 mL SB/g DM total mixed ration.

To evaluate the influence of zilpaterol hydrochloride (ZH) supplementation on growth performance, carcass traits, chemical characteristics of the longissimus muscle (LM), and plasma metabolites, 16 Mahabadi castrated goats (29.93 ± 1.84 kg) were individually fed a finishing diet without or with ZH supplementation dosed at 0.20 mg/kg BW daily. Zilpaterol was fed for 30 days with 3 days of withdrawal before harvest. Compared with the controls, ZH supplementation decreased dry matter intake and increased total weight gain, average daily gain, and gain for feed. The availability of molecular markers in camels is limited. The aim of this study was to develop new simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers. Four breeds of pooled dromedary genome were sequenced at low coverage utilizing Roche and Illumina platforms. A total of 65,746 contigs, covering approximately 52 Mb (2316 contigs > 2 kb), were assembled. The partial genome revealed 613 SSR loci with a minimum number of 5 repeat units. Comparative chromosomal location for 60 camel loci was predicted against bovine genome assembly Baylor Btau_4.6.1/bosTau7. Ten markers (16.7%) returned matches with a >100 score and >80% identity. The aim of this study was to determine concentrations of manganese (Mn), iron (Fe), and strontium (Sr) in the cartilage, compact bone, spongy bone, and cartilage with adjacent compact bone of the domestic dog (Canis lupus familiaris). The experiment was carried out on bones from the hip joints of 24 dogs (dogs of 8 years) from northwestern Poland. Virus-like particles (VLPs) produced by recombinant expression of the major viral structural proteins could be an attractive method for transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV) assembly and release. In this study, the M gene, sM gene, and N gene of TGEV were inserted into donor plasmid pFastBac Dual. Those recombinant donor plasmids were transformed into E.coli DH10Bac respectively. Recombinant baculoviruses were obtained by transfection of the Sf9 cells with Bacmid-M, Bacmid-sM, and Bacmid-N. This study aimed to investigate Y chromosomal haplotypes in the main Tunisian sheep breeds. For this purpose, we sequenced 2 regions of SRY (549-bp and 598-bp fragments) and 1 region in each of the AMELY and DBY genes in Barbarin, Western Thin Tail, Sicilo Sarde, and Black Thibar breeds. The present study was conducted to investigate plasma macrominerals (Ca, P, Na, K, and Mg) in adult male and female quails according to different body weights in four close-bred flocks of Japanese quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica) maintained at the Avian Research and Training Center of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore. The results showed that mean plasma Na concentration was significantly (P < 0.05) different in female quails with respect to body size categories. The interaction between flocks and body size for plasma Ca levels was significant (P < 0.05) in both sexes of quails, whereas plasma Na was significant (P < 0.05) in female quails. The mean plasma P and K levels in imported and local flocks of Japanese quails were significantly (P < 0.05) different in female quails, whereas plasma Mg was significantly (P < 0.05) different in male quails. However, with respect to body size categories, plasma P, K, and Mg were significantly (P < 0.05) different in female quails only. The interaction between flocks and body size was significant for K and P in female quails and for plasma Mg levels in both sexes of quails.

The effects of supplementing broilers' diets with fermented cottonseed meal (FCSM) on the broilers' performance, apparent digestibility, carcass traits, and meat composition were studied. A total of 180 yellow-feathered chickens of 21 days old were randomly divided into three groups (six replicates of 10 broilers each): 1) a control group (Con), 2) a treatment group of FCSM by Candida tropicalis (Ct), and 3) a treatment group of FCSM by C. Tropicalis plus Saccharomyces cerevisiae (Ct-Sc). The purpose of this paper is to verify the textural quality and acceptability of two different prepared emulsion-type fish sausages that were evaluated by using rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and saithe (Pollachius virens) fillets. Texture properties of the fish sausages were compared with three different emulsion-type sausages (chicken, turkey, and beef sausages) using texture profile analysis (TPA), shear test, Kramer shear test, pate penetration test, cooking loss, and expressible moisture. According to the TPA and firmness values, some textural indicators were found significantly weak (P < 0.05), but they met consumers preferences.

The aim of this study was to determine the changes in serum nonesterified fatty acid (NEFA), serum ß-hydroxybutyric acid (ß-HBA), triglycerides, Ca, Na, and other metabolites (bilirubin, glutamate dehydrogenase (GLDH)) in the blood of grazing, healthy goats at the time of parturition. Blood samples were taken weekly from the jugular vein of 11 goats, starting at week 2 antepartum (ap) until week 9 postpartum (pp). NEFA and ß-HBA concentrations increased from week 2 ap to 2 weeks pp. The increase in NEFA level was not significant; however, the ß-HBA levels were higher (P < 0.05) 2 weeks pp compared to the levels at 2 weeks ap. Triglycerides were recorded at maximum levels (P < 0.05) 2 weeks ap, with the lowest concentrations at 3 weeks pp. Bilirubin levels consistently increased up to 7 weeks pp, followed by a decrease. However, these changes were not significant. Similarly, GLDH activities increased until week 8 pp. A significant difference (P < 0.05) was recorded between the 1st week and 8th week pp. Ca and Na levels were lower during the 1st week pp and increased at 3 weeks pp. The results show that there are characteristic alterations of some metabolic blood parameters in goats around the time of parturition, which may be related to physiological changes.

An experiment was conducted to assess the effects of polyethylene glycol (PEG-6000) and urea on feed intake, nitrogen retention, and nutrient digestibility in sheep fed raisin stalk. Sixteen male fat-tailed Sanjabi sheep (26 ± 0.66 kg) were randomly assigned to one of 4 dietary treatments: raisin stalk (control; RS), raisin stalk supplemented with 3% urea and 4% molasses (RSU3%); 5% urea and 7% molasses (RSU5%); or 5% urea, 7% molasses plus 5% PEG (RSU-PEG) per DM of raisin stalk. Research was conducted on 12 clinically healthy 4-year-old White Nobel goats. Renal activity examinations were carried out with the use of clearance methods where inulin was used as a testing substance to determine the level of glomerular filtration. The results allowed determination of inulin clearance, endogenic creatinine, sodium, potassium, and chloride levels. Filtered load, tubular resorption, and excretion in urine of sodium, potassium, and chlorides were marked. The research revealed diurnal variations of renal activity in goats. This study aimed to determine the time taken for Escherichia coli O157:H7 to adapt to different types of acids and the effect of acid adaptation on the survival level of E. coli O157:H7 in sucuk (Turkish-type fermented sausage). E. coli O157:H7 cells were adapted to acids in a tryptic soy broth (TSB) set to pH 5.5 for 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-h periods using hydrochloric, acetic, lactic, and citric acid. Multiple-locus variable number of tandem repeats analysis (MLVA) is useful for epidemiological investigations. In this study, MLVA-18 was used to assess the genetic and epidemiological relationships of Brucella canis isolates among a domestic dog and dogs from two breeding farms. MLVA-18 assay showed variation in copy numbers in 6 of the 18 loci. Interestingly, the YJ02-1 strain isolated from the pet dog from Yangju-si showed only one tandem repeat change in Bruce 09 locus as compared with that of NYJ-1 strain isolated from a dog from the Namyangju-si farm. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical and radiographic aspects of xenogenic transplantation of rat bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) for the repair of radial bone defects of rabbit. Bone marrow derived MSCs collected from Wistar rats were expanded, differentiated, and labeled in the laboratory. In the fourth passage, the cultures were pelleted in aliquots of 107 cells/50 μL and transplanted in situ into the lesions. Thirty-six rabbits were used in the in vivo study. The genetic structure of 4 Turkish breeds of sheep, Gökçeada, Kıvırcık, Karacabey Merino, and Sakız (SZ), was analyzed by genotyping with 17 microsatellite markers in 250 individuals. The microsatellites showed high levels of polymorphism, with means for total and effective number of alleles per locus of 20.71 and 7.04, respectively. The average observed and expected heterozygosity values were 0.66 and 0.87, respectively. It was found that a higher level of breed admixture existed in the 4 breeds, which was an important finding. The monomorphism of newly hatched chicks is a major hurdle for poultry farmers at the time of sexing. The traditional sexing techniques are inaccurate and time-consuming. Therefore, the present study aimed to develop a loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP)-based sex determination method to obtain a higher separation accuracy rate as compared to conventional methods. The aim of the study was to compare the frequencies of hoof conformation faults and disorders in the front and hind legs of horses of different breeds. The study was conducted on 346 horses over 3 years old (167 Anglo-Arabians, 130 Hucul horses, and 49 Silesian horses). In the study population, over 60% of the horses had some kind of hoof conformation faults and disorders. A significant difference in the incidence of hoof conformation faults (65.5%) and hoof disorders (35.5%) was shown in the analyzed population of horses. The aim of this study was to evaluate arginase activity and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) levels in the tissues of the cardiac and skeletal muscle and liver of lambs with white muscle disease (WMD). The cardiac and skeletal muscle and liver tissues were obtained from 8 lambs with WMD and 9 apparently healthy lambs. Therefore, freshly ejaculated and washed spermatozoa of 8 swamp buffalo bulls were capacitated in vitro in TALP medium supplemented with BSA, heparin, and HEPES buffer at a concentration of 6 × 109 spermatozoa/mL at 37 °C for 6 h. Staphylococcus aureus is a major etiological agent of bovine mastitis worldwide. In this study, 37 strains of S. Aureus resistant to penicillin were isolated from bovine mastitis cases in Gansu Province for investigating blaZ and virulence-related genes, including tst, eta, etb, lukPV, lukED, lukM, hla, hlb, hld, and edin. Antibiotic resistance was based on disk diffusion method and blaZ and virulence-associated genes were studied by polymerase chain reaction. Penicillin resistance gene blaZ was detected in 35/37 (94.6%) of penicillin-resistant S. In vitro-produced bovine embryos matured in modified Tissue Culture Medium 199 (TCM-199) were vitrified at the 7th and 8th days of culture, and development at 48 h after warming was recorded. Ovaries were obtained from a local abattoir, and the oocytes were recovered by slicing method and divided into two main groups.
