Identifying and testing potential medications for these two diseases is critical since current FDA-approved medications are only modestly effective, and addiction continues to spread. We previously demonstrated that co-administration of morphine and MP-III-024 produced synergistic effects in hot plate and von Frey assays. Although previous studies have analyzed radiation doses from single sources on civilian flight operations, there is a lack of research focused on dose received by military personnel during flight from both sources simultaneously. Ectodermal Dysplasias (EDs) are rare heterogenous monogenic developmental disorders sharing the impairment of at least two surface ectoderm-derived organs. Symptoms characteristically manifest developmental abnormalities of the teeth, and three skin derivatives: hair follicles, nails, and sweat glands. The disease-causing gene was identified for only fewer than half of 160 characterized ED phenotypes. Expectedly, ED-causing genes regulate or function in ectodermal-developmental processes. The most common phenotype is hypohidrotic ED featuring teeth agenesis, and diminished or complete absence of hair and sweat production. Arginine-vasopressin (Avp) and serotonin have both been implicated in modulation of social behaviors ranging from affiliation to aggression. In male mice, Avp neurons in the bed nucleus of stria terminalis (BNST) show increased activity during prosocial behavior. BNST sends Avp afferents to the dorsal raphe (DR) in the midbrain, a home to a large portion of serotonin neurons in the mouse brain. HPV is highly transmissible by sexual contact via micro abrasions to the mucosa.
