Consequently, two important well-being measures for Healthy People 2030—subjective well-being and life satisfaction—were negatively impacted. A plethora of evidence exists about the benefits of running for physical and mental health. An educational intervention to improve communication skills was implemented with staff including licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, and nurse practitioners. Risk Factors For Hepatitis A Hospitalizations And Mortality In Kentucky's 2018 Hepatitis A Outbreak, Tanya Campbell

In 2018, the state of Kentucky faced an outbreak of Hepatitis A virus (HAV), which led to a significant increase in HAV cases, hospitalizations, and fatalities. The social-ecological model (SEM) was used in a cross-sectional design to identify the factors associated with this outbreak. This approach employed secondary data extracted from the National Notifiable Disease Surveillance System (NNDSS). Logistic regression was used to test hypotheses determining homelessness, drug use, and HAV vaccine status were related to HAV hospitalizations. There was a statistically significant association between the covariate age and HAV hospitalization (p = 0.004), and between homelessness and hospitalization (p < .001); however, associations between drug use and HAV vaccine status were not statistically. Intervention programs should target homeless populations; such targeting can lead to a reduction in HAV infections and HAV outbreaks. Implications for positive social change include motivation for policymakers and public health officials to assist in curtailing hospitalization and mortality rates caused by HAV in high-risk groups. Targeted prevention and intervention measures can mitigate the incidence of HAV in high-risk populations and enhance their health prospects.

At-risk students face academic challenges that can affect nursing program progression. Remediation strategies can increase student success. The research problem addressed through this study is a lack of information surrounding the students' remediation experience in an at-risk, pre-licensure baccalaureate student nurse population. Individualizing remediation to the student population can increase success; however, the student perspective is needed to correctly identify and tailor the remediation activities to fit the students’ needs. Our purpose in this research study was to examine perceptions of food and nutrition educators (FNEs, i.e., Registered Dietitians Nutritionists and Family and Consumer Science teachers) and young adults (ages 18–25) on the status of cooking and food skills among young adults. Redlining, the practice of discriminating against specific neighborhoods based on race and socioeconomic status, leads to persistent environmental hazards and socioeconomic inequalities that have lasting adverse health effects on their populations. Health disparities are further exacerbated through the concentration of environmental hazards, as well as the escalating impact of climate change, which poses an increased risk of respiratory illness, cardiovascular disease, mental health issues, heat-related illness, infectious diseases, food insecurity, and socioeconomic difficulties in redline neighborhoods.

The 2014–2016 Ebola outbreak left thousands of Liberian survivors with severely diminished quality of life. Applying a social determinants framework, this mixed method study investigates to what extent Ebola virus disease (EVD) survivors suffer long-haul psychosocial stress, diminished quality-of-life factors, and the impact of EVD-related service provisions on their ongoing healing. We present the results of a quantitative analysis survey of data collected from 19 Liberian EVD survivors in 2022 using snowball sampling. Additionally, a qualitative analysis of survivor statements helps triangulate key statistical findings and inform causal mechanisms. Multiple myeloma is commonly associated with advanced age. This study aims to investigate how multiple myeloma outcomes are affected by opioid use disorder (OUD) among hospitalized patients. We analyzed the National Inpatient Sample (NIS) for 2019 and 2020 for our retrospective cohort study. International Classification of Diseases Clinical Modification codes (ICD-10-CM) were utilized to identify the population of interest. Primary and secondary outcomes were studied using a multivariate regression model. Among the 38,735 patients hospitalized with multiple myeloma, 350 patients had the concurrent diagnosis of opioid use disorder. OUD patients were found to be at increased risk for major depressive …

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a significant public health concern globally as well as in Owerri, Nigeria. The deleterious effects of diabetes have been linked to poor glycemic control.
