Background/aim: Dynamic contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) can in vivo characterize tumor microvascular environment. The aim of the present study was to reveal the DCE-MRI findings and to determine the correlation between these findings and immunohistochemical data in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Materials and methods: Thirty-three patients diagnosed with primary HNSCC were evaluated retrospectively. DCE-MRI was conducted in all cases. CD34, CD105, and ki-67 expressions were analyzed with immunohistochemistry in tissue sections to determine micro-vessel density and proliferative activity. Background/aim: Next generation sequencing provides new information about the molecular pathogenesis of cancer. We used a targeted NGS-based multiple gene panel comprising prostate cancer (PCa) predisposing genes to assess the prevalence of germline mutations in PCa patients. Material and methods: In a cohort of twenty-one PCa patients with a family history of cancer, a targeted multigene panel consisting of 39 genes associated with hereditary cancer was created and analyzed using the next generation sequencing method. Background/aim: To investigate the potential role of computed tomography (CT) histogram analysis in differentiating cholesteatoma (CHS) and non-cholesteatoma (NCHS). Materials and methods: We evaluated 77 temporal bone CT images (from November 2016 to February 2020) that were obtained pre- operatively (mean age, 37.10±17.27 years in CHS; 36.72±16.08 years in NCHS group). Background/aim: Infective endocarditis (IE) is still a significant cause of morbidity and mortality among cardiovascular diseases. ENDOCARDITIS-TR study aims to evaluate the compliance of the diagnostic and therapeutic methods being used in Turkey with current guidelines. Materials and methods: The ENDOCARDITIS-TR trial is a multicentre, prospective, observational study consisting of patients admitted to tertiary centres with a definite diagnose of IE. In addition to the demographic, clinical, microbiological, and echocardiographic findings of the patients, adverse events, indications for surgery, and in-hospital mortality were recorded during a 2-year time interval. Background/aim: About half of the cases of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) occurring in childhood/adolescence occur with similar symptoms both in childhood and adulthood. Immunologic stress is claimed to be a risk factor in the etiology of childhood onset OCD. Our aim was to elucidate the relationship between childhood onset OCD risk and MHC complex I and II alleles. Background/aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the healing effects of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMMSCs) on experimental testicular torsion in rats. Materials and methods: Three groups consisting of 10 Wistar albino rats were created. In Group I, the left testicle was explored and relocated in the scrotum without any attempt to modify it. Background/aim: Convalescent plasma (CP) might be an additional treatment modality in COVID-19. The aim of this study was to compare CP-related clinical characteristics and perinatal outcomes in pregnant women with mild or moderate-severe COVID-19. Materials and methods: This prospective cohort study included 36 pregnant women (12 mild and 24 moderate-severe), who underwent CP therapy. The CP obtained from recently recovered donors was transfused to patients together with maximum supportive care and antiviral agents.
