Background/aim: Ganglioside antibodies are identified not only in patients with inflammatory neuropathies but also several central nervous system disorders and paraneoplastic neuropathies. Our aim was to investigate whether ganglioside antibodies are found in autoimmune encephalitis patients and may function as a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker. Materials and methods: Sera and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples of 33 patients fulfilling the criteria for probable autoimmune encephalitis were collected within the first week of clinical manifestation. Background/aim: The known pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus (DM) in acromegaly is mainly based on growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) excess. Fatty acid-binding protein 4 (FABP-4), a novel adipokine, is found to induce insulin resistance and type 2 DM. The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of AKI and to evaluate its impact on morbidity and mortality in very premature infants. Materials and methods: This retrospective cohort study was conducted in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). A total of 410 preterm infants who were born before 32 gestational weeks were screened and 318 were included in this analysis. Background/aim: To investigate the similarities and differences of renal clinical and renal pathology between IgA nephropathy (IgAN) and IgA vasculitis nephritis (IgAVN) in children. Materials and methods: A total of 237 children with IgAN and 190 children with IgAVN were included. The general conditions, clinical characteristics, final diagnosis, clinical and pathological classification of the children were intercepted at the time of admission, and the retrospective comparative analysis was carried out. Background/aim: In this study, we aim to investigate the efficacy of convalescent plasma (CP) according to blood groups (BGs) in the treatment of critically ill patients diagnosed with COVID-19. Materials and methods: Twenty-eight critically ill and laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients who were admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Sakarya University, Medical Faculty were included in the study. Background/aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of preemptive oral pregabalin on hemodynamic response, anxiety, sedation, and recovery in patients who underwent endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) under sedation with intravenous ketamine-propofol combination.
