Health literacy is associated with the utilization of preventive health services. We examined the association between health literacy (HL) levels and receipt of at least one dose of the human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccination. We analyzed the data from the 2016 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) among adults aged 18 to 32. The primary outcome variable was the ‘yes/no’ response to the question that assessed whether the participant received at least the first dose of HPV vaccination. Individual patient and socioeconomic factors are underexplored prognostic factors for glioblastoma (GBM). Frailty, a measure of physiological vulnerability, and area deprivation, a measure of socioeconomic status, are easily obtained during the preoperative evaluation. These metrics are predictors of outcome and access to treatments for other cancers. Therefore, we sought to determine the association of frailty and neighborhood disadvantage with outcomes of patients with newly diagnosed GBM.

Nurses in leadership positions are encountering increasing psychological stressors both due to the nature of their work and the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic on health care. Using the lens of the Metatheory of Resilience and Resiliency, some of these stressors (burnout and secondary traumatic stress) and protective factors (compassion satisfaction and resilience) were explored. Objective

To compare tube-related outcomes in children with standard tape vs nasal bridle securement of nasogastric tubes (NGTs).

Study Design

This was a single-center, retrospective, correlational study of outcomes from the time of NGT placement until full oral feeds or durable-tube placement. Outcomes of interest included NGT dislodgments, length of stay, emergency department (ED) encounters, radiographic exposures, and adverse skin outcomes. Negative binomial regression and logistic regression were used to analyze differences between groups.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is associated with significant risk of acute thrombosis. We present a case report of a patient with cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) associated with COVID-19 and performed a literature review of CVST associated with COVID-19 cases.

Case Report:

A 38-year-old woman was admitted with severe headache and acute altered mental status a week after confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19. This study compares quality of discharge teaching and care coordination for parents of children with challenging behaviors participating in a nursing implementation project, which used an interactive iPad application, to usual discharge care. Few studies have examined how exposure to substance influences adolescent’s use of substance in Timor-Leste. We assessed this relationship using nationally representative data from Timor-Leste to address this gap. Data was pulled from the 2015 Timor-Leste Global school-based student health survey. Data of students aged 13-17years (N = 3700) from class 7–11 across schools in Timor-Leste were analyzed for this study. This study sought to assess the predominant learning mode of second-year dental students, investigate the possible relationship between learning mode, age, and gender, and evaluate if there are quantitative and qualitative differences in predoctoral endodontic lab performance/student perception when learning-mode-specific materials are provided.

The ability to debrief is considered an essential clinical and simulation teaching skill because of the deep learning cultivated. Regulatory bodies identify the need for debriefing training and professional development followed by formative and summative assessment.

Method

The Debriefing for Meaningful Learning Evaluation Scale (DMLES) is a behaviorally anchored rating scale developed to assess 20 behaviors aligned with Debriefing for Meaningful Learning (DML). Background/Aims: Circadian rhythms in behavior and physiology are programmed by the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) of the hypothalamus. A subset of SCN neurons produce the neuropeptide arginine vasopressin (AVP), but it remains unclear whether AVP signaling influences the SCN clock directly.

Methods: Here, we test that AVP signaling acting through V1A and V1B receptors influences molecular rhythms in SCN neurons. V1 receptor agonists were applied ex vivo to PERIOD2::LUCIFERASE SCN slices, allowing for real-time monitoring of changes in molecular clock function.

This investigation estimated the incremental cost-effectiveness of high-intensity training (HIT) compared with conventional physical therapy in individuals with subacute stroke, based on the additional personnel required to deliver the therapy.

Design

Secondary analysis from a pilot study and subsequent randomized controlled trial.

Setting

Outpatient laboratory setting.

Participants

Data were collected from individuals with locomotor impairments 1-6 months poststroke (N=44) who participated in HIT (n=27) or conventional physical therapy (n=17).

The aim of this study was to determine relationships between moral injury (MI), well-being, and resilience among staff nurses and nurse leaders practicing during the COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) pandemic.

BACKGROUND

Attention to MI among health professionals, including nurses, increased in 2021, particularly related to the pandemic. Few studies examined MI, well-being, and resilience; even fewer provided implications for leadership/management.

METHODS

This article describes development of a theory to guide nurses promoting perinatal weight self-management behaviors. The Coaching for Childbearing Health (CoaCH) Model was developed through synthesis of the Individual and Family Self-Management Theory with Transitions Theory, following Walker and Avant's process of theory synthesis. Qualitative data were integrated to provide perinatal context. The CoaCH Model is composed of context factors that shape a nurse coaching intervention, supporting patients' self-management efforts. Background: Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is a rescue treatment option for adult patients with severe cardiac dysfunction or respiratory failure. While short-term patient outcomes, such as in-hospital mortality and complications, have been widely described, little is known about the illness or recovery experience from the perspectives of survivors.
