Nursing educators consider that awareness of the emotional needs of a patient is a prerequisite to the formulation of a nursing problem. The problem of this study was to discover if the senior student in a specific college program in nursing is aware of the emotional needs of patients. Statement of Problem:

Would more men enter and remain in nursing, if the Seventh-day Adventist denomination would recognize the professional skills of qualified men nurses and utilize them on the same basis on which they utilize the professional skills of a qualitied women nurses?

Method:

The normative-survey method was employed in this study, to collect the necessary data. Two groups of men were used in the survey; men nurses who graduated from Seventh-day Adventist schools of nursing between the periods 1950 to 1955, and college men representing the two lower division classes.

It was the purpose of this study to consider four phases of the nature of the learning experiences of students of nursing in the operating room. The phases of the problem studied were: (1) Are the learning experiences "new" or "an expansion and/or clarification of previous learnings?" (2) Do new learning experiences continue throughout the clinical assignment to the operating room? (3) Are the learning experiences concentrated in some areas of learning more than in others? (4) Is there a relationship between the area of learning and the type of duty performed by the student in the operating room?

The purpose of this study was to find out what levels of responsibilities recent graduates of four Seventh-day Adventist basic college programs in nursing assumed during the first year following graduation; to find if these recent graduates felt adequately prepared for their positions; and to find out why they accepted their positions.

The descriptive survey method was selected for the research. The questionnaire, chosen as the means of obtaining data, was sent to the 106 nurses who graduated in 1956 of whom 82 percent responded. In this study a survey was made of the attitudes of Indonesian Seventh-day Adventists toward nursing. This was done for the purpose of discovering why there is a shortage of women applicants to the Seventh-day Adventist nursing school in Bandung, Java. The study was accomplished through the use of questionnaires administered to four selected groups in two geographic areas of Indonesia, and revealed attitudes of two adult groups and two student group. One hundred and twenty-one persons responded to the questionnaires.

Otosclerosis is a frequent affliction resulting in progressive hearing loss. With the advance of ear surgery during the past 25 years various procedures have been proposed for the correction of this condition. Among their number surgical mobilization of the stapes has assumed considerable importance. In this paper, which is presented as a thesis to fulfill the requirements for the degree of Master of Science, the operation will be discussed on the basis of the literature and the author's own experiences with the procedure.

Traditionally, radiation of those wavelengths produced by a potential of from 2 to 25kv. has been classified as "Grenz" or "soft" x-rays. The peculiar property of this radiation is its low penetrating power. While being transparent to more energetic radiation, animal tissue and similar materials are sufficiently opaque to Grenz rays as to be studied in detail. Since the radiation is of the continuous type, it can be made soft enough to reveal any object, providing, of course, that the tube window and object medium be not opaque. This thesis, presented for the degree of Bachelor of Science, provides a systematic chemical study of the alkaloids, a class of complex nitrogenous plant substances possessing basic properties. Barre opens by defining the alkaloids and surveying the various systems used to classify them, whether by natural versus artificial origin, chemical nucleus (pyridine, quinoline, or isoquinoline), volatility, or botanical family of origin, and outlines their general physical and chemical properties, including solubility, optical activity, and characteristic reactions with precipitating and color-test reagents.
