Profiling Competitive Malaysian Archers: Musculoskeletal Injuries And Related Risk Factors, Ambusam Subramaniam, Fariza Zainudin Fairus, Mon Redee Sut Txi

Background: Archery requires precision, strength, stamina, and attention, yet musculoskeletal injury data is scarce. The study aimed to profile the musculoskeletal injuries and the associated risk factors among Malaysian archers. Methods: A cross-sectional approach was used to recruit 165 elite archers. The Standardized Nordic Questionnaire (SNQ), adapted risk factors questionnaire, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and Depression Anxiety Stress Questionnaire (DASS-21) were used to screen participants. Results: Shoulder (drawing arm) (54.5%), shoulder (bow arm) (56.4%), upper back (38.8%), lower back (38.2%), and neck (37.6%) musculoskeletal injuries were common. Abstract

Sexual assault (SA) remains a pervasive issue on college campuses in the United States, often compounded by underreporting and a lack of knowledge about available resources. This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project aims to educate first-year college students about SA, sexual consent, and available resources to empower students in preventing assaults and seeking help when needed. The intervention, which was integrated into mandatory freshman seminars at a four-year university, was guided by Knowles' Adult Learning Theory. A presentation provided critical information, and knowledge gains were assessed through pre- and post-presentation surveys. Initial findings indicated significant increases in understanding …

Integrating pedagogical and technological knowledge among faculty is crucial, especially within Florida state colleges’ Nursing (ADN) programs. I explored the impact of three decades of technological advancements on faculty's ability to incorporate technology into their teaching methods using a qualitative, exploratory design; I conducted semi-structured interviews via Microsoft Teams. The analysis of faculty perceptions, experiences, and challenges reveals a significant gap in pedagogical knowledge despite strong subject matter expertise, indicating underdeveloped instructional strategies and learner-centered pedagogies. Additionally, participants exhibited a diverse understanding of the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework, highlighting difficulties in effectively integrating technology, pedagogy, and content knowledge. …

Students who drop out are at-risk for detrimental long-term outcomes physically, mentally and economically (Rumberger, 2020). The research conducted indicated that these mock experiences were substantially beneficial for how nursing students learned bedside manners and clinical skills. This evidence-based project aims to reduce CAUTIs by implementing daily catheter care charting, using pre-packaged antiseptic wipes, and providing targeted nursing education. These interventions will enhance accountability, improve hygiene practices, and equip nurses with the latest CAUTI prevention techniques. Transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation (tVNS) is a non-invasive technique that has been demonstrated to reorganize the brain neural network based on neuroplasticity. Research shows that tVNS may enhance cognitive performance such as verbal memory, as it may elicit the release of key neurotransmitters, Gamma-aminobutyric Acid (GABA) and Noradrenaline, that modulate cognitive performance and learning. The current study hypothesizes that verbal memory as an important cognitive skill in healthy adults will be improved after receiving tVNS. Purpose: To evaluate resident surgical complication rates under the supervision of an experienced attending surgeon over five years.

Setting: A single academic medical center at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill, NC.

Design: Retrospective chart review.

Methods: Retrospective review of the first 30e50 cases performed by five classes of residents supervised by a single experienced attending surgeon with over twenty years of experience as a surgical educator. Data was collected from Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) surgical logs and operative notes. Understanding how expectations formed while in nursing school affect one's successful transition as a newly licensed nurse allows educators to identify curriculum changes to align expectations between academic and healthcare settings to improve the transition to professional nursing. A descriptive-hermeneutic phenomenological study utilized interviews, observations, and journal activities to identify variances between student nurses' expectations and the professional nurse work environment.
