Objective: The objective is to determine if there is a significant difference in shear bond strength and debonding characteristics between one-piece metal brackets made by metal injection molding (MIM) and multi-piece metal brackets made by machining then soldering/brazing with differing pad designs. Methods: A total of thirteen metal orthodontic brackets manufactured by 8 different companies were divided into two groups: one-piece MIM and multi-piece brackets. Introduction: Class II malocclusions can be treated with appliances such as the pendulum appliance or distal jets to distalize maxillary molars to achieve a Class I molar relationships. Purpose: Dental hygiene students face an exorbitant amount of stress during their educational pursuits. This has only been compounded by the added stress of the COVID-19 pandemic. Students may benefit from the practice of meditation in managing their stress levels during these trying times. This study analyzes the effectiveness of meditation as a stress reliever for dental hygiene students as they navigate their education during the pandemic and the effects it may have on perception of stress, academic achievement, and physical health.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to assess the accuracy of implant placement using stereolithographic guides printed with and without stabilization struts by comparing the post-operative position to the planned implant position.
Methods: A pre-operative cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) of a drillable maxillary model was obtained and data was uploaded into coDiagnostiX for preoperative planning. The implant position was planned in an edentulous space of #5 using a 3.3x10mm Bone Level Tapered (BLT) implant (Straumann). Purpose: To determine if interprofessional education (IPE) program with dental hygiene and occupational therapy students help determine roles and responsibilities in patients post-stroke.
Methods: A virtual 90-minute educational module was presented to occupational therapy and dental hygiene students, hosted over zoom with a 30-minute presentation followed by an open discussion over two case studies. A pretest was administered before the event and followed by an immediate posttest. Both tests included the Modified Readiness for Interprofessional Learning (mRIPLS) items that are on a 5-point Likert scale.

Objective: Stainless steel crowns (SSCs) are preformed metal crowns used to restore severely decayed primary teeth. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of pH changes and SSC margin trimming on nickel release in artificial saliva solution. Methods: A total of 90 SSCs were divided into three groups and placed in 35 ml of artificial saliva of pH 6.8, 5, and 3.5. Methods: This retrospective radiographic study was performed on 177 patients with 200 impacted maxillary canines and 12 mesiodentes. Eliminating microorganisms in the root canal system is important for the success of regenerative endodontics. Objective: This study evaluated the effects of different antibiotic pastes used for regenerative endodontic procedures on dentin microhardness and the push-out bond strength of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) to root canal dentin. Methods: Sixty-four maxillary central incisors were instrumented and randomly divided into the following four groups (n = 16) for medicament treatment: triple antibiotic paste, amoxicillin+clavulanic acid, cefaclor, and control (no dressing). Craniofacial development is regulated through dynamic and complex mechanisms that involve various signaling cascades and gene regulations. Disruption of such regulations can result in craniofacial birth defects. Here, we propose the first developmental stage-specific network approach by integrating two crucial regulators, transcription factors (TFs) and microRNAs (miRNAs), to study their co-regulation during craniofacial development. Specifically, we used TFs, miRNAs and non-TF genes to form feed-forward loops (FFLs) using genomic data covering mouse embryonic days E10.5 to E14.5. The purpose of this study is to characterize the inflammatory cytokines that are expressed in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and THP-1 monocytes exposed to Invisalign® aligner material in vitro. Invisalign® material was ground into particles, soaked in artificial saliva, and the eluate was collected. Commercially available cryopreserved pooled and individual human PBMCs and THP-1 monocytes were cultured with Invisalign® material eluate and positive (lipopolysaccharide) and negative controls. The purpose of this study was to ascertain if repeated stresses from extension cycling would result in accumulated damage in aligner materials and affect force delivery. A secondary goal was to identify potential differences in mechanical behavior present among orthodontic aligner polymers. Four thermoplastic polymers (Essix ACE, Taglus, Zendura, and Zendura FLX) were thermoformed, cut into strips, and extension cycled to 0.4 millimeters in a 37C water bath. Force decay, maximum and minimum force, and elastic modulus were measured during cycling. Purpose of this study is to evaluate the success rates of secondary alveolar grafts using recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein with CBCT and to evaluate the effects of several variables on these outcomes. After our inclusion/exclusion criteria, records of 24 patients receiving secondary alveolar grafts at the University of Nebraska Medical Center were evaluated. Pre-graft and 6-month post-graft cleft volumes were measured using ITK-SNAP 3.8.0 software to determine a percent residual defect following surgery.
