Effects Of Residue Levels Of Glean On Lupin Growth, And Possible Synergism By Hoegrass., Terry Piper, Patrick Pigott Jan 1987

Effects Of Residue Levels Of Glean On Lupin Growth, And Possible Synergism By Hoegrass., Terry Piper, Patrick Pigott

Experimental Summaries - Plant Research

Trial 87PE37

This trial was conducted to confirm the results of 86WH53 and 87WH64. The trial commenced in September and in a glasshouse thus temperatures were higher and growth faster then in the field trials.
There are no significant effects of soil applied Glean or Hoegrass, and no interaction between the two herbicides.
In contrast, there is a very significant stunting of plants by Glean applied post emergence if Hoegrass is co-applied, but not by Glean alone.

Rates Of Ally And Glean For Cape Tulip Control., R. Madin, J. Buckley

Experimental Summaries - Plant Research

Evaluation in 1987 indicated that Ally and Glean at all rates gave 100% control of Cape Tulip at York with minimal pasture affect on species other than clover.

Chemical Control Of Four O'Clock (Oxalis Purpurea) And Narrow Leaf Oxalis (Oxalis Glabra)., J. R. Peirce, B. J. Rayner

Experimental Summaries - Plant Research

Trial 97NO95

Control of small leaved Oxalis - Logran gave reasonable control. Post seeding treatments using Isoproturon gave very poor control.

Control of Oxalis purpurea (Four O'clock) - Logran either as a single application or a mixture with Isoproturon gave best control.

Control of clover - Isoproturon 4 L (post), Ally and Logran (40 g) gave 100% control.

Control of erodium - Logran gave very poor control.

Control of grasses - Isoproturon 2 & 4 Li/ha post emergent gave the best control of grasses.

Control of Four O'clock in cereals - Crop yield - Treatments using single doses of Isoproturon …

The Demography Of Doublegee. Ecological Studies On Arum Lily., F. D. Panetta Jan 1987

The Demography Of Doublegee. Ecological Studies On Arum Lily., F. D. Panetta

Experimental Summaries - Plant Research

3.1 Growth of doublegees under summer irrigation. (87A40)

The weevil, Perapion antiquum is a potential biological control agent of doublegee. However, it exhibits large population crashes during the summer months in the summer-dry areas of the Western Caped of South Africa, where it is native. It has been suggested that one means of successfully establishing Perapion in Western Australia could be to maintain populations in 'oases' over the summer months. The aim of this experiment was to determine how readily doublegee could be maintained in a non-senescent phase under irrigated and shaded conditions.

3.2 Doublegee demography in cereal crops (87GE30) …

Control Of Soursob (Oxalis Pres-Caprae) In Cereals, J. R. Pierce, B. J. Rayner

Experimental Summaries - Plant Research

Trial 87NO107

Plant counts for soursob and Four O'clock will be more accurate when counts taken after the break of 1988 season to determine the bulb production from last season.

Ally gave good control of doublegee. Isoproturon or mixtures with Isoproturon also gave good doublegee control. Logran & Glean were weak on doublegee.

Effect Of Time Of Spraying Prior To Seeding For Capeweed Control., J. R. Peirce, B. J. Rayner Jan 1987

Effect Of Time Of Spraying Prior To Seeding For Capeweed Control., J. R. Peirce, B. J. Rayner

Experimental Summaries - Plant Research

Trial 87WH61

Significant yield increases were obtained by applying chemicals pre-sowing to control capeweed. Time of spraying also had a significant effect on crop yield. Best yields were obtained from the treatment four weeks before seeding.

Good capeweed control (four weeks before seeding) may have been due to the condition of the weeds. Prior to spraying 50 mm of rain was recorded and may have freshened up the capeweed making it more susceptible to the chemical.

Control Of Four O'Clock (Oxalis Purpurea) In Cereals., J. R. Peirce, B. J. Rayner

Experimental Summaries - Plant Research

Trial 87KA85

Because of the late dry season, yields were below expected. Under these conditions there were high visual crop damages recorded early after the treatments applied.

Chemical Control Of Skeleton Weed., J. R. Peirce, B. J. Rayner Jan 1987

Chemical Control Of Skeleton Weed., J. R. Peirce, B. J. Rayner

Experimental Summaries - Plant Research

Trial PE17

Tordon 50 D & Lontrel L appear to be the only chemicals that will give effective reduction in the density of skeleton weed. However both these chemicals also removed all other broadleaved weeds present (capeweed, clover and flatweed), leaving the treated areas grass dominant.

Lincoln Weed Control In Cereals And Pasture., I. Hudson, R. Ramm Jan 1987

Lincoln Weed Control In Cereals And Pasture., I. Hudson, R. Ramm

Experimental Summaries - Plant Research

Trial 87LG62 - Lincoln weed control in cereals.

Blanket treatment with Glyphosate controlled some ryegrass. Additional treatment with Glean killed nearly all the ryegrass and gave the best kill of Lincoln weed.

Trial 87LG63 - Control of weed in pasture.

Ally and Glean although giving control, would be considered too phytotoxic to use on legume pastures. Applications of 2,4-D amine at 1 L would give marginal safety on Subterranean clovers, but would cause significant damage to medics.
