Investigation Of Imidazolinone Herbicide Towards Weedy Rice (Oryza Sativa L.) And Effects Of Its Residual Concentration In Soil, Yousef Bzour Mahyoub Izzat
Student Works (2020-2029)
Clearfield® Production System (CPS) for rice was introduced in Malaysia in 2010 as the current best solution to combat weedy rice (Oryza sativa) especially in direct-seeding system using imidazolinone-based herbicide (commercial name: OnDuty®). Although CPS has widely implemented in many rice fields in Malaysia, some of the major concerns of CPS are the probability of weedy rice to become resistant to OnDuty® and herbicide residual effects to rice agro-ecosystems and other environments. Therefore, this study was aimed to (i) evaluate the resistant status of selected weedy rice biotypes to imidazolinone herbicide; (ii) determine association between weedy rice morphological characteristics with …
Isolation Of Plastic-Degrading Fungi From Landfill And Determining The Selected Plastics Biodegradation Capability, Mohan Priya
Isolation Of Plastic-Degrading Fungi From Landfill And Determining The Selected Plastics Biodegradation Capability, Mohan Priya
Student Works (2020-2029)
Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) and High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) are the most important polymers used predominantly in present world. Since synthetic polymers hardly undergo degradation and remain in the environment for a very long time, up to 1000 years, these drawbacks increase the percentage of solid wastes in landfill and threaten the environment. To date, Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) landfill is the most favored disposal method especially among the developing countries. The aim of present study is to evaluate the potential of fungus isolated from landfilled plastics to degrade PET, LDPE and HDPE. Besides, effect of different …
Gene Expression Analysis Of Effectors Involved In Early Interaction Of Banana And Fusarium Oxysporum F. Sp. Cubense, Nee Kiew Poon
Gene Expression Analysis Of Effectors Involved In Early Interaction Of Banana And Fusarium Oxysporum F. Sp. Cubense, Nee Kiew Poon
Student Works (2020-2029)
Banana is a popular but disease-laden fruit crop. It is very susceptible to various phytopathogens such as viruses, bacteria, fungi and nematodes. A particularly infectious and economically important fungal disease in banana is Fusarium wilt caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense (Foc). The disease has been plaguing the banana industry since late 19th century. Despite the early discovery of this phytopathogen of banana, little is known on its the mechanism of pathogenicity. In other plants, fungal effectors have been found to function in manipulating plant mechanisms during infection and many have been identified and characterized. In this study, the …
Metabolite Profiling Of Ganoderma-Infected Oil Palm Tree Grown On Ultisol And Oxisol Soil, Ahmad Muhamad Fadhil
Metabolite Profiling Of Ganoderma-Infected Oil Palm Tree Grown On Ultisol And Oxisol Soil, Ahmad Muhamad Fadhil
Student Works (2020-2029)
The oil palm industry is a pillar of the Malaysian economy and plays a pivotal role in feeding and fueling a growing global population. In 2018, oil palm contributed 37.9% or RM37.7 billion to the country's' Gross Domestic Products (GDP) of agriculture sector. Despite achieving significant achievements in the industry, Ganoderma sp. infection that cause basal stem rot (BSR) and upper stem rot (USR) disease are considered a threat. The palm oil industry is expected to experience significant losses, thereby affecting yield production and ultimately the dead of trees. Some factors have been reported to affect the occurrence of the …
Early Evaluation Of Banana Cultivars For Fusarium Wilt Tolerance, Abdulkadir Aden Mohamed
Early Evaluation Of Banana Cultivars For Fusarium Wilt Tolerance, Abdulkadir Aden Mohamed
Student Works (2000-2009)
Field evaluation of banana plants for disease tolerance in soil infested with Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense is commonly used. The process is slow as disease expression usually takes 4-5 months, while inoculum concentration, edaphic conditions, temperature and other variables that may affect disease expression are difficult to control. An alternative method of screening plantlets at the nursery stage was developed. The technique consisted of a double tray set up; a perforated inner tray containing sterilized river sand or a sand-clay mixture (4 sand : I clay) on which hardened tissue-cultured plantlets were grown, and a larger outer containment tray …
Characterization Of Natural Variants Of Local Wild Bananas & Seed Progeny Of Musa Acuminata, Muhammad Asif Javed
Characterization Of Natural Variants Of Local Wild Bananas & Seed Progeny Of Musa Acuminata, Muhammad Asif Javed
Student Works (2000-2009)
The purpose of this study was to characterize the variation pattern that exists in the wild Musa acuminata (AA) populations. widely distributed in Malaysia. Fourteen populations of Musa acuminata, which included subspecies malaccensis, siamea and truncata were collected from different locations including Selangor, Pahang, Perak, Kelantan, Kedah and Terengganu for studies on variation within and between populations, based on morphological characters, biochemical, ploidy and genomic DNA content. Techniques of numerical taxonomy were employed to determine the variation pattern and these included use of the clustering method and principal component analysis. Ploidy level and genomic DNA content were determined by flow …
Sistem Diagnosis Penyakit Tanaman Padi (Pakar Padi), Jin Gee Tee
Sistem Diagnosis Penyakit Tanaman Padi (Pakar Padi), Jin Gee Tee
Student Works (2000-2009)
