Native vegetation handbook series

This booklet provides land managers with information relating to the natural resources of the Shire of Northam, including the existing and original vegetation, fauna and flora, drainage systems, topography and soils. Some of the problems relating to the management of these resources within the Shire and community initiatives to deal with these problems are also discussed. It is hoped that this information will contribute to the long term viability of the agricultural landscape and the conservation of native vegetation within the Shire.

The West Ash Creek Potential Research Natural Area is located within pastures 6, 7, and 11 of the Pine Ridge Unit of the Nebraska National Forest ca 18 mi. (30 km) southwest of Chadron, Nebraska. The area consists of ca 1020 acres of mostly successional pine forest burned in a 1985 wildfire, with unburned forest, some grassland, and riparian canyon bottoms. The area is within the Pine Ridge ecosystem of the White River watershed in northwestern Nebraska. The area has remained ungrazed nearly continuously since 1986.

A Study Of The Lichens At Rocky Branch Nature Preserve, Clark County, Illinois, Eric B. Grunder

Masters Theses

In 1971, a graduate student at Eastern Illinois University, James E. Wiedman, studied the lichen flora of Rocky Branch Nature Preserve, Clark County, Illinois. During his study he collected, identified, and recorded a total of 64 lichen species. Since 1971, Rocky Branch Nature Preserve has experienced a dramatic increase in use by people and a concomittant decline in the quality of lichen habitats. In order to assess the decline of suitable lichen habitats and the reduction of lichen species a second study of the lichens at Rocky Branch Nature Preserve was undertaken. Nebraska Game and Parks Commission: White Papers, Conference Presentations, and Manuscripts

In April 1996 the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission (NGPC) entered into agreement with the U. S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) to conduct inventory work for endangered, threatened, and rare plant and animal species within the floodplain corridor of the Middle Loup River basin in Nebraska. This district includes the Farwell and Sargent Irrigation Districts. The impetus for such inventory work is the renewal of current water services contracts between BOR and irrigation districts that will expire in 1988. BOR has stated the need to balance the interests of the irrigation districts and their clients, with …

Soil conservation survey collection

This report summarises work undertaken to provide ground control for digital terrain models(DTMs) of the Quindabellup and Wambellup sub-catchments. The DTMs will be generated using digital photogrammetry; the ground control was obtained using differential Global Positioning System (D.GPS). Description of Bench Marks (BMs) and summary sheets of Standard Survey Marks (SSMs) located in the general area, were obtained from the Department of Land Administration(DOLA). A ground survey was carried out to confirm the location and condition of BMs and SSMs in the two sub-catchments. Five SSMs were selected as reference points for the D.GPS survey.
