Lupin root disorder. Resistance to lupins to Phomopsis leptostromiformis (Fungal ratings by P. McR. Wood and F.M. O'Donnell, data compiled by J. Hamblin, Plant Production Division) Phomopsis levels on any particular genotype are influenced by environment. Therefore material selected for Phomopsis resistance is done so on its being better than average over all sites. Data for the Plant Breeders' S2-l trial at Avondale (ARS), Badgingarra (BRS), Chapman (CRS), Esperance (ERS) and Mt. Barker (MTRS) are shown in Table 3.

Influence Of Planting System On Surface Soil, Physical Conditions And Soil Water Relations, D Tennant
Experimental Summaries - Plant Research
Influence of planting system on surface soil, physical conditions and soil water relations. The availability of soil water for crop use can this way be influenced by planting system. Various aspects of soil water relations were examined in varying detail at three sites - Wongan Hills, Avondale and Merredin, over the 1979 and 1980 growing seasons. Some of this soil water data are presented here. The Department of Agriculture initiated a programme in 1977 to investigate and compare crop performance under several planting systems. This project was part of this programme and had as its objectives: 1. Measurement of soil …

Effects Of No-Tillage Fallow As Compared To Conventional Tillage In A Wheat-Fallow System, C. R. Fenster, G. A. Peterson
Effects Of No-Tillage Fallow As Compared To Conventional Tillage In A Wheat-Fallow System, C. R. Fenster, G. A. Peterson
Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station: Historical Research Bulletins
The benefits of reducing tillage by use of herbicides for weed control emphasizes why research was started to study a fallow system where all tillage was replaced by herbicides. Wheat planting was then the only soil disturbing operation. Objectives of the research were to compare the effects of no-tillage (chemical), stubble-mulch and plow (bare fallow) systems of fallow on: 1. Grain yield. 2. Grain protein. 3. Residue retention. 4. Soil nitrate-nitrogen accumulation. 5. Soil water accumulations during fallow. Data presented are in the form of a progress report. These experiments will continue.
Bulletin 3992 - Nitrogenous Fertilisers For Cereal Production, M. G. Mason
Bulletin 3992 - Nitrogenous Fertilisers For Cereal Production, M. G. Mason
Bulletins - 3000 - 3999
Because fertiliser prices continue to rise, it is becoming increasingly important to understand what affects the response to fertilisers by crops.
Among the many factors influencing crop response to nitrogen applications, the most important are the season, soil type, paddock history, time of application and source of nitrogen. Before deciding whether to use nitrogen on a cereal crop, which source to use and at what rate, the farmer needs some understanding of how these factors work.
