International Journal of Exercise Science 14(2): 113-122, 2021. The Paleolithic diet, characterized by an emphasis on hunter-gatherer type foods accompanied by an exclusion of grains, dairy products, and highly processed food items, is often promoted for weight loss and a reduction in cardiometabolic disease risk factors. Specific adipokines, such as adiponectin, omentin, nesfatin, and vaspin are reported to be dysregulated with obesity and may respond favorably to diet-induced fat loss. This study examined the differences in LM contraction thickness between variations of the superman and bird dog exercises. The purpose of this investigation was to determine whether Critical Power (CP) and Functional Threshold Power (FTP) can be used interchangeably for a highly-trained group of cyclists and triathletes. CP was ascertained using multiple fixed load trials and FTP determined from a single cycling trial. Three different models for the determination of CP were initially addressed, one hyperbolic (Hmodel) and two linear (Jmodel and Imodel). However, the impact of beet juice during primarily anaerobic exercise is equivocal. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of acute beet juice supplementation on maximal intensity performance during 30-s and 60-s maximal-intensity cycling sprints. Athletes with cervical level spinal cord injuries (SCI) have an impaired ability to thermoregulate during exercise, leading to an increased core temperature (Tcore) due to a decrease in sweat response. Elevated Tcore may result in premature onset of fatigue and decreased athletic performance. This study observed how a concussion's effects change the quantity and quality of sleep in collegiate athletes. There is a lack of research pertaining to this topic, explicitly involving collegiate athletes and the changes in sleep outcomes during concussion recovery from a concussion. The study design is a convenient cohort in the field involving athletes from two local universities. Participants wore a Readiband™ device for seven to ten days or throughout their concussion recovery. Improvement in the accuracy of a clinical SIJ pain diagnosis lends a higher likelihood of appropriate treatment measures, better patient outcomes and decreased out-of-pocket costs. Therefore, the overall purpose of this evidence to practice review was to highlight the main points of a systematic review on the clinical diagnosis of SIJ pain. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the implementation of performance-based tasks (PBTs) prior to completion of patient-reported outcome measures (PROs) would create a change, or a response shift, in PROs in patients with knee injuries. A randomized controlled trial was implemented to examine the effectiveness of a response-shift based interventions to enhance the correlation between PBTs and PROs. Participants (n=20) were knee-injured patients who were removed from activity for a minimum of 1-week. Skeletal muscle strength, specifically that of the anti-gravitational muscles such as the quadriceps, is essential for performing dynamic tasks including walking, navigating stairs, and transitioning between sitting and standing. Obesity has been shown to negatively impact musculoskeletal function and decrease quadriceps strength relative to body weight. Additionally, obesity has been linked with higher rates of fatigue and lower strength outcomes following a test of muscular endurance of the quadriceps. Since obesity lowers relative strength, it is likely that quadriceps muscle weakness contributes to reduced physical function of dynamic tasks. A 17-year-old high school female cross-country runner and basketball player presented with syncope following long-endurance exercise. The syncope episodes started when the patient was 13 years old during a basketball game. After the first episode, the patient fainted every time she crossed the finish line of a cross-country meet. Her symptoms included increased heart rate, shortness of breath, and paresthesia in her hands and legs during exercise. Background: The “unhappy triad” injury includes tears of the anterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament, and medial meniscus. There is limited research on the prevalence and outcome of this injury. The unique surgical repair consisting of lateral extra-articular tenodesis (LET) was utilized to reinforce the anterior cruciate ligament repair (ACLR) and to prevent rerupture. The general and athletic populations commonly experience patellar tendon pain, which is frequently treated with a gold standard 12-week eccentric exercise protocol. The present research study was designed to determine the effects of a treatment based classification (TBC) algorithm utilizing indirect treatment techniques in patellar tendinopathy participants. A 47-year-old female patient employed as a nurse in a mental health facility working 10-hour shifts reported to the sports medicine clinic for an initial orthopaedic examination after she twisted and fell out of bed causing direct compressive forces on her right hip. She has a history of an underdeveloped right hip, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) allergy, and low back pain (Oswestry score: 41/50, NPRS: 8/10) and is classified as a heavy smoker for 30 years. The prescription of aerobic exercise modalities engaging the arm musculature have the potential to extend the reach of physical activity and promote cardiorespiratory fitness in individuals with lower body impairment due to excessive body mass, and among individuals seeking to complement and diversify standard leg training. This study compared the acute cardiopulmonary responses obtained during arm cycling and leg cycling performed at different intensities among lean and average (LA) and overfat and obese individuals (OFO).
