Journal of Food and Drug Analysis
This study introduces an innovative bio-based sorbent bead crafted by integrating chitosan (CS) biopolymers, Fe(NO3)3 and polydopamine nanoparticles (PDA NPs) via glutaraldehyde crosslinking. The primary focus of this study was the concurrent separation of diverse tetracycline antibiotics (TCs), followed by rigorous reversed-phase liquid chromatography analysis. The fabricated CS/Fe@PDA sorbent beads were comprehensively characterized using scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, revealing a surface rich in active carbon (C), nitrogen (N), and oxygen (O) moieties. The proposed method demonstrated substantial analytical robustness, enabling the sorbent bead to detect low concentrations of TCs, with limit of detection values …

Production And Characterization Of Encapsulated Thymoquinone Loaded Bacterial Cellulose/Chitosan Composite Nano Film And Investigation Of Its In Vitro Antibacterial Activity, Aytul Bayraktar, Tunc Tuba
Journal of Food and Drug Analysis
In this study, nanostructured thin films were produced from thymoquinone (TQ)-loaded composites encapsulated with different ratios of bacterial nanocellulose (BNC) to chitosan (CS). The study aimed to investigate their characterization, antibacterial effects, and potential as drug film coating materials. Chemical features and morphological characteristics were determined, and release tests and antibacterial assays were conducted on the thin film layers. As a result, BNC/CS-thymoquinone composite films obtained at different ratios were found to exhibit the highest antibacterial effect, particularly films with a 70% BNC/CS to 30% thymoquinone ratio, against Salmonella typhimurium bacteria.

Formulation And Evaluation Of Fast Disintegrating Tablets Of Domperidone Using Chitosan-Glycine Conjugates As Superdisintegrant, Simran Kaur Zandu, Reena Kumari, Inderbir Singh
The Thai Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences
Purpose: The present research was envisaged to employ chitosan-glycine conjugates as superdisintegrant for developing fast disintegrating tablets of domperidone. Materials and Methods: Chitosan-glycine conjugates were prepared by physical mixing and microwave-assisted technique. Micromeritic study, Fourier transform infrared, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction methods were employed for characterizing the powdered conjugates. The formulated FDTs were evaluated for wetting time, water absorption ratio, disintegration time, in vitro drug release, and other tablet parametric tests. Results and Discussion: The effective pore radius of unadulterated chitosan was found to be 18.45±1.27 μm whereas the chitosan-glycine conjugates prepared by physical technique and microwave technique …

Synthesis And Evaluation Of Poly(Ethylene Glycol) Diacrylate-Modified Chitosan As A Mucoadhesive Polymer, Kwanputtha Arunprasert, Chaiyakarn Pornpitchanarong, Nitjawan Sahatsapan, Praneet Opanasopit, Prasopchai Patrojanasophon
The Thai Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences
This study aimed to synthesize a poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate-modified chitosan (CS-PEGDA) as a mucoadhesive polymer for transmucosal drug delivery. Chitosan-cysteine (Cys-CS) was synthesized by coupling chemistry. Cys-CS was then employed for the synthesis of CS-PEGDA through a thiol-ene click reaction between the thiol groups of Cys-CS and alkene groups of PEGDA using triethanolamine as an activator. The obtained structure of the synthesized polymer was proved using Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. The mucoadhesive capability of the synthesized polymer was examined by an ex vivo mucoadhesion test using a texture analyzer. The toxicity of synthesized …

Synthesis Of (2-Hydroxyl-3-Butoxyl) Propyl-Succinyl-Chitosan – An Amino Sugar Anionic Surfactant Under Microwave Irradiation And Its Application, P. S. Singh, Suraj N. Mali, N. R. Sangale, Amit P. Pratap
The Thai Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences
Introduction: Chitosan, a biopolymer with 97% degree of deacetylation, was used herein, to synthesize an amino sugar anionic surfactant of varied alkyl chain length, using a microwave-assisted synthesis. We were also examined their properties in aqueous form. Objectives: The objectives of the study were to increase the surface activity and water solubility of chitosan derivatives. Materials and Methods: Structural features and crystallinity were confirmed using Fourier transform infrared, ¹H-nuclear magnetic resonance, and X-ray diffraction. The chitosan by itself was found to have weak surface-active properties since it has no hydrophobic segment. Results: The microwave-assisted synthesized sugar amino-based anionic surfactant, synthesis …
