Purpose: Is to identify the barriers and challenges parents face while raising plant-based children in North America.
Design: A phenomenological qualitative study using semi-structured interviews was used to establish thematic barriers among plant-based parents.
Setting: Parents raising their children following a vegan and/or whole food plant-based diet and residing in North America.
Participants: A total of 22 parents of plant-based children ages 0-17 participated in 19 ZOOM semi-structured interviews.
Phenomenon of Interest: Barriers and challenges faced by parents raising their children plant-based.

© 2018 by the authors. Meat analogs are processed foods designed to mimic meat products. Their popularity is increasing among people seeking foods that are healthy and sustainable. Animal-sourced protein products differ in both their environmental impact and nutritional composition. The protein sources to produce meat analogs come from different plants. Cancer is the second most important non-communicable disease worldwide and disproportionately impacts low- to middle-income countries. Diet in combination with other lifestyle habits seems to modify the risk for some cancers but little is known about South Americans. Food habits of Argentinean men pre- and post-diagnosis of prostate cancer (n = 326) were assessed along with other lifestyle factors. We studied whether any of the behaviors and risk factors for prostate cancer were found in men with other cancers (n = 394), compared with control subjects (n = 629).
