Recruitment and retention of student employees are important considerations for any recreational sports department, large or small, because student employees impact both the quantity and quality of programs and services. This article proposes a strategy for establishing partnerships with academic departments to aid in the recruitment and retention of student employees. These partnerships benefit students, the recreational sports department, academic departments, and university student retention efforts. Following a description of this strategy is an example of a partnership that has been successfully established at one Midwestern university.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires that persons with disabilities be integrated to the maximum extent possible, and that these persons cannot be excluded from participation. Intramural directors need to be proactive in this area. The benefits of intramural sports are vast, and they help many students become part of the college community. Forming an alliance with the Disability Services on campus, the first step, is the most vital aspect of making these programs successful. Sacred Heart University’s exercise science students have been busy this semester participating in various service-learning initiatives and clinics. During the semester, students are asked to complete 20 hours of service learning work so they get first-hand experience working with children and adolescents, engaging them in physical activity and sports and seeing classroom and textbook concepts come to life.

Background and Purpose: This study assessed the psychometric properties of a modified
self-efficacy scale—the Pregnancy-Exercise Self-Efficacy Scale (P-ESES).

Methods: Pregnant women completed the P-ESES and physical activity questionnaires (N 5 88).
Results: Internal consistency was confirmed by Cronbach’s alpha (a 5 0.838) and equal length
Spearman–Brown (a 5 8.22). Squared multiple correlation coefficients were
calculated showing 9 of 10 items with values greater than the desired .5. A nonrotated
exploratory principal components analysis confirmed the same 9 of 10 items loaded on
a single factor, accounting for 46.1% of the variance. Each item had an acceptable load
