An experiment was done on the benefits of aquatic therapy for children with autism or autism spectrum disorder. Swim lessons were administered to a nine-year-old child with autism twice a week for eight weeks over the summer. The child's motor movements and behavior were analyzed and recorded every two weeks. The child's response to touch, instructions and facial expressions were measured on a 1-5 scale. The distance kicked with a kickboard, time spent with face in the water, number of stimming motions, and number of echolalia repetitions were recorded with tally marks.
