4-Week Neuromuscular Training Program On Peak External Power In The Back Squat In Division Ii Collegiate Athletes, Noah Smith
Honors Theses
Neuromuscular training has been shown to have many benefits to athletes ranging from increases in performance to decrease in injury risk by decreasing knee valgus in some athletes. The purpose of this study is to determine if neuromuscular training can influence power in athletes. It is hypothesized that with the intervention program there will be a significant increase in power in the sample. A 4-week neuromuscular training program was implemented with resistance trained athletes (Age: 20.13±.99 yrs., n=14). This training involved balance and plyometric exercises. A pretest and posttest consisted of 2 sets of 6 repetitions of a back squat …

It attempts to answer the question: How do educational …
The Effects Of Exercise On Adults With Intellectual And Developmental Disabilities, Addison Bates
The Effects Of Exercise On Adults With Intellectual And Developmental Disabilities, Addison Bates
Honors Theses
Exercise is essential for a healthy life and many people are unable to participate due to barriers. One population that seems to be extremely impacted by these barriers are persons with disabilities. People with disabilities are more likely to become obese and suffer from serious, chronic illnesses. There is a need for exercise programs catered to this population. There is a lack of exercise programs focused on people with disabilities, so through this research we are interested to see the impact of a 12-week exercise program and what results might occur from this lifestyle change. With the 12-week virtual program …

The Effects Of Aquatic Therapy On The Motor Skill And Behavioral Development Of Children With Autism Or Autism Spectrum Disorder, Elysian Majeske
Honors Theses
An experiment was done on the benefits of aquatic therapy for children with autism or autism spectrum disorder. Swim lessons were administered to a nine-year-old child with autism twice a week for eight weeks over the summer. The child's motor movements and behavior were analyzed and recorded every two weeks. The child's response to touch, instructions and facial expressions were measured on a 1-5 scale. The distance kicked with a kickboard, time spent with face in the water, number of stimming motions, and number of echolalia repetitions were recorded with tally marks. Results were analyzed and compared to previous research …

Piano Performance Injuries And Preventions, Kristin N. Cordell
Honors Theses
Strength, flexibility, coordination, and determination are all words that come to mind when describing an athlete. Not only do these words apply to athletes, but also to musicians, especially pianists. Each of these characteristics must be found within a pianist in order to achieve success. Although musicians may not look like athletes with large, bulky muscles, they should be considered musician athletes as well.
Just as athletes can become injured during practice or performance, so can pianists. The difference is found in the methods of training each use. Athletes often undergo extensive training to prepare their bodies for intense performance. …
