The effects of different O2 and CO_2 concentrations on the scald development and postharvest physiology of Granny Smith apples (Malus domestica Borkh.) were investigated. Apples were harvested at optimal harvest time and stored in 1% CO_2/2% O_2, 2% CO_2/2% O_2, 3% CO_2/2% O_2 and 0% CO_2/21% O_2 (control) at 0 °C and 90-92% relative humidity for 9 months. At certain intervals, samples were collected from each storage condition for physical and chemical analysis (e.g. weight loss, flesh firmness, amount of titratable acid, total soluble solids, skin color, scald development, respiration rate and decayed fruit). Effects Of Seedling And Gf-31 Rootstocks On Yield And Fruit Quality Of Some Table Apricot Cultivars Grown In Mersin, Levent Son, Ali̇ Küden

This experiment was conducted in Mut-Mersin between 1997 and 2001 to determine the effects of seedling and GF-31 rootstocks on the yield and quality of fruits of Tokaloğlu, Precoce De Tyrinthe, Joubert Foulon, Canino, Sakıt 6, Beliana, Priana and Early Kishnevski table apricot cultivars. Fruit yields were highest on apricot seedling rootstocks for all cultivars. Yields (kg tree^{-1}) ranged between 14.66 kg (Tokaloğlu) and 63.06 kg (Priana) on apricot seedling rootstocks and between 13.6 kg (Sakıt 6) and 41.13 kg (Priana) on Myrobalan GF-31 rootstock in 2001. The volume of healthy trees of commercial size in the maple-birch forest type measured during the last two Forest Inventory Analysis surveys of Wisconsin grew at 2 to 3%/yr for sawtimber, and 3 to 4% for pole timber, with substantial differences among species. However, from 1967 to 1989, the real price of logs decreased or remained constant for most grades and species. The decrease was especially large for high grade logs. The only exceptions were red oak and elm, whose prices increased at i to 2 %/yr, for all grades. As a result, the average value growth rate of the …
