This article provides a systematic review of the extraction and purification techniques - reflux, ultrasonic, Soxhlet, microwave-assisted, flash, enzymatic hydrolysis, and supercritical CO2 extraction methods - of flavonoids from Cuscutae Semen. Chinese Baijiu distiller's grains represent a major by-product of the Baijiu brewing industry. The solid-state or liquid-state multi-strain fermentation process endows them with complex chemical compositions and functional properties, conferring considerable potential for further development. This study describes the chemical composition of Chinese Baijiu distiller's grains, discusses the differences in functional components arising from the brewing processes of various Baijiu aroma types, and evaluates advanced extraction techniques targeting core components, including proteins, dietary fibers, and polyphenols. The widespread abuse of traditional antibiotics has led to the emergence and development of antimicrobial peptides due to the resultant bacterial resistance.Antimicrobial peptides demonstrate high efficacy in combating infectious pathogens and possess unique antimicrobial mechanisms and biocompatibility,effectively reducing the bacterial resistance rate.The high structural adaptability endows antimicrobial peptides with multiple biological activities,enabling targeted action against diverse types of pathogens and abnormal cells.Accordingly,antimicrobial peptides exhibit a promising development prospect.Enhanced stability contributes to prolonging the in vivo half-life and improving the bioavailability of antimicrobial peptides,which holds crucial importance for improving the clinical translation value of antimicrobial peptides.The author summarizes the research progress …

Carboxymethyl pachymaran (CMP) is a carboxymethylated modification product of the water-insoluble polysaccharides from Poria cocos. It has many biological activities such as immune regulation, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, anti-oxidation, liver damage protection and intestinal flora regulation. It has a wide application prospect in functional food, active molecular carrier, medicine and other fields. In this paper, the research of CMP at home and abroad in recent years was focused, the biological activity, preparation, identification and application development of CMP were reviewed, and the future development direction of CMP was prospected.

The natural vegetable oil known as Korean pine seed oil is well-known for its high content of being various unsaturated fatty acids, including oleic, linoleic and pinopuric acid. It has been proved that Korean pine seed oil has several physiological benefits such as lowering blood lipids, enhanceing immunity, anti-inflammation, anti-oxidation, enhancing insulin sensitivity, and anti-tumor. This review summarized the extraction methods and pharmacological effects of Korean pine seed oil in recent years, and put forward good suggestions for its application in edible oil and industrial production.

The structure and function of peptides are affected by the changes of environmental factors, including temperature, pH value and ionic strength. Sugar groups can form covalent bonds with amino acid side chain groups of peptides to undergo structural modification, and then the glycosylation modification can effectively improve the stability and biological activity of peptide molecules. In this review, the preparation methods and structural characterization strategies of glycosylated peptides were summarized, and the recent research progress on their physiological activities were highlighted. The challenges and future research directions of glycosylated peptides were also discussed.

Cicada flower is a valuable edible and medicinal mushroom. Polysaccharides are the most important active ingredients of cicada flower. This paper reviewed the extraction, separation and purification technologies of cicada flower polysaccharides in recent years. Also, it analyzed the biological activities of cicada flower polysaccharides, such as antioxidant, anti-tumor, immune regulation, bacteriostasis, hypolipidemic, hypoglycemic, anti-virus and ease pain. Moreover, the development and application of products were summarized and the existing problems and future research directions were also discussed.

Objective: This study focused on improving the extraction rate and application of Mesona chinensis polysaccharide (MCP). Methods: MCP was obtained from fresh M. chinensis by thermally alkaline extraction, protein removal by trichloroacetic acid and purification by dialysis bag. The chemical structure was analyzed by ultraviolet and infrared spectrum scanning, X-ray diffraction and SEM scanning. The antioxidant activity was determined by in vitro antioxidant capacity, and the antibacterial activity was determined by antibacterial experiment. In order to explore the effect of adding gardenia fruit, a traditional Chinese medicine with dual function of food and medicine, on the quality of yogurt, ferrmentation characteristics and functional properties were investigated. The effects of GE on the number of live bacteria, acidity, water holding capacity and viscosity of yogurt during fermentation were evaluated, and the antibacterial activity, antioxidant activity, lactic acid bacteria's tolerance to simulated gastrointestinal fluid and volatilization were measured after the fermentation was completed. Based on molecular structure and physical and chemical properties, we compare the characteristics of melanin separation and purification by different methods, and summarizes the antioxidation, immunomodulation, radiation protection, antiviral, chelated metal ions, antitumor, organ protection, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties of melanin. Biological activities, such as DNA protection, focus on the characteristics and mechanisms of antioxidant, metal chelation, anti-tumor, and radiation protection, and provide guidance for the higher value utilization of melanin.
