Data on deep sea leptostracans (Crustacea: Phyllocarida: Leptostraca) are still scarce in many parts of the world. In the last few years, several species of Nebalia Leach, 1814, have been reported from the eastern Mediterranean; however, there have been no reports from waters deeper than 100 m. Samples collected recently from Gökçeada, Turkey-at depths of 680-820 m in the Aegean Sea, eastern Mediterranean-included Nebalia abyssicola Fage, 1929. This study is based upon material of the family Vespidae collected at a series of localities in Turkey between 1964 and 2010 and a review of the previous studies on the Vespidae of Turkey. Stenodynerus trotzinai (Morawitz, 1895) and Antepipona dentella Gusenleitner, 1991 are new records for the Turkish fauna. With these 2 additions and the data from previous studies, a total of 298 species and subspecies from 53 genera belonging to 4 subfamilies, Vespinae, Polistinae, Eumeninae, and Masarinae, of the family Vespidae have now been recorded from Turkey. Four species of water mites (Acari: Hydrachnidia) are presented for the fauna of Turkey. Oxus (s. str.)angustipositus Viets, 1908; O. (s. str.) hastatus (Lundblad, 1954); Frontipodopsis (s. str.) reticulatifrons Szalay, 1945; and Hungarohydracarus subterraneus Szalay, 1943 are new records for the Turkish fauna. The description of the male O. (s. str.) hastatus, a species known for a single female specimen from Portugal, is given for the first time. Frontipodopsidae and Hungarohydracaridae are reported for the first time for Turkey.

The eulophid parasitoids (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) of Cameraria ohridella Deschka and Dimic (Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae) on horse chestnuts (Aesculus hippocastanum L.) in İstanbul were determined for the first time. Horse chestnut leaves infested with leafminers were collected in 2008 and adult parasitoids were obtained in emergence cages in the laboratory. A total of 10 eulophid parasitoid species were identified, 5 of which, namely Cirrospilus viticola (Rondani), Pnigalio mediterraneus (Ferriére and Delucchi), Minotetrastichus frontalis (Nees), M. platanellus (Mercet), and Closterocerus trifasciatus Westwood, were recorded for the first time in Turkey. Two species of the family Cheyletidae (Acari: Prostigmata), Cheletonella vespertilionis Womersley and Cheyletus kuznetzovi Bochkov and Khaustov, are given as new records for the Iranian fauna. This is also the first report of the genus Cheletonella Womersley from Iran.

Four oribatid mites new to the Turkish fauna, namely Licneremaeus licnophorus (Michael, 1882), Moritzoppia (Moritzoppia) tridentata (Forsslund, 1942), Lauroppia maritima acuminata (Strenzke, 1951), and Banksinoma lanceolata lanceolata (Michael, 1885), collected from Bolu province, Turkey, are given with their drawings and SEM photographs. On the basis of the collected samples, their morphological features and distributions in the world are also presented.

Three new species are described: Ophiomyia quadrispinosa sp. nov., Metopomyza lingulata sp. nov., and Pseudonapomyza multicostata sp. nov. Five species are recorded from Turkey for the first time: Melanagromyza provecta (de Meijere), Liriomyza lutea (Meigen), L. periorbita Hendel, Phytomyza veronicicola Hering, and P. wahlgreni Rydén. All species were collected from Elazığ and Malatya provinces in 2007 and 2008. The general distribution and a description of each species are presented.

Five species of aquatic Oligochaeta new for Montenegro were recorded from various types of fresh waters. Marionina argentea (Michaelsen, 1889) was reported from a subterranean stream. Propappus volki Michaelsen, 1916, Rhyacodrilus coccineus (Vejdovsky, 1876), and Cognettia sphagnetorum (Vejdovsky, 1877) were found in epigean streams. Haplotaxis gordioides (Hartmann, 1821) appeared in both subterranean and epigean streams. The list of aquatic oligochaetes from Montenegro now encompasses 39 species.

Thirty-five species from 7 genera of Tersilochinae (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) occur in Turkey. Of these, 20 species are new records for Turkish fauna. The general distribution and data on the biology of Turkish species are provided. Keys to all European genera and subgenera are given, with a short annotation on the taxonomy, distribution and biology of each genus.

The rotifer fauna of Iran is poorly known. This comprehensive study presents the results of an investigation of rotifers sampled in 51 freshwater sites of Tehran and neighboring provinces of Iran, from May 2006 to May 2007. Of the 115 species identified, 72 from 19 genera and 5 families are new for the fauna of Iran. Including the present records, the number of known Iranian rotifers has now reached 143. A new species belonging to the genus Helochares Mulsant, 1844 (Coleoptera: Hydrophilidae) is described on the basis of a single male specimen collected in Ordu province, Turkey. The species is described and an identification key to the species of the Helochares lividus group is provided. In addition, Helochares pallens MacLeay, 1825 and Hydrobius convexus Brullé, 1835 are recorded in Turkey for the first time.

A short review of the family Damaeolidae Grandjean, 1965 is provided with the first records of Damaeolus asperatus (Berlese, 1904) and Damaeolus ornatissimus Csiszár, 1962 from Turkey. Identification key to 11 known species of the family is given. Scanning electron microscopy photographs of the newly recorded species are also provided.

Knowledge about leptostracans from the Mediterranean Sea is still scarce. Examination of samples collected from the Aegean Sea off Turkey and from Cyprus in the eastern Mediterranean Sea revealed new localities and range extensions for 2 species of leptostracans: Nebalia strausi Risso, 1826, and N. kocatasi Moreira, Koçak, and Katagan, 2007. The record of N. kocatasi is the first for Cyprus and for the Levantine Basin. Additional specimens (Nebalia sp. 1 and Nebalia sp. 2) might prove to belong to 2 new species but the lack of material prevents their formal description.

A new species, Cryptognathus ayyildizi sp. nov. is described and illustrated. Raphignathus bathursti Meyer and Ryke, 1960 (Raphignathidae), and Cheylostigmaeus californicus Summers and Ehara, 1965 (Stigmaeidae) are redescribed, and are new records for the Turkish fauna. Their worldwide distribution is also given.

Ten monogonont rotifer species new for the Turkish fauna discovered in 2007 are discussed: Cephalodella delicata Wulfert, C. cf. forceps Donner, C. misgurnus Wulfert, Dipleuchlanis propatula (Gosse), Encentrum limicola Otto, E. mustela (Milne), Lecane aculeate (Jakubski), L. paradoxa (Steinecke), Notommata glyphura Wulfert, and Proales similis de Beauchamp. Eight are widely distributed, but C. cf. forceps Donner and L. paradoxa (Steinecke) have been recorded only from the Palearctic. Important parts of the trophi structure of some species are shown using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Dissolved oxygen, electrical conductivity, pH, and water temperature were also measured.

Scale insects in cultivated and non-cultivated areas in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus were surveyed between 2005 and 2007. This study showed that Diaspididae and Coccidae were the most common families, with total numbers of 23 and 13 species, respectively. The remaining families contained 1 to 4 species. Nine Tachinidae species were recorded for the first time in Turkey. These are Medina melania (Meigen), Acemya acuticornis (Meigen), Allophorocera ferruginea (Meigen), Graphogaster vestita Rondani, Phasia pandellei (Dupuis), Xysta holosericea (Fabricius), Leucostoma tetraptera (Meigen), Cylindromyia interrupta (Meigen), and Besseria lateritia (Meigen).

Four oppioid (Oribatida:Oppioidea) mite species, namely Berniniella (Berniniella) parasigma Iturrondobeitia, 1987, Autogneta (Rhaphigneta) numidiana (Grandjean, 1960), Conchogneta dalecarlica (Forsslund, 1947), and Lauroppia tenuipectinata Subías and Rodríguez, 1987, recorded from Artvin province are given with their original figures. Some of their morphological features and distributions in the world are also presented. All of them are new records for the Turkish fauna.

Among the Asilidae specimens collected from various locations of Turkey during 1994-2007, 2 Dioctria species, Dioctria arcana Richter, 1966 and Dioctria meyeri Nowicki, 1867, are recorded for the first time from Turkey. New distribution areas for previously known species, Dioctria abdominalis Becker, 1923, Dioctria atricapilla Meigen, 1804, Dioctria flavipennis Meigen, 1820, and Dioctria valida Loew, 1856, are added.

The parasitoids of the small poplar longhorn beetle, Saperda populnea (L.) (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae), were studied in the Aras Valley (Kars and Erzurum provinces), Turkey, during 2006-2007. Five parasitoid species, Paraperithous gnathaulax (Thomson), Dolichomitus populneus (Ratzeburg), Dolichomitus tuberculatus (Geoffroy) (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae), Ipbiaulax impostor (Scopoli) (Hymenoptera: Braconidae), and Billaea irrorata (Meig.) (Diptera: Tachinidae), were reared from the over-wintering larvae living in the galls of S. populnea. Dolichomitus populneus was the most numerous of the parasitoids and accounted for 55% of all parasitoids reared. Faunistic data of the 16 Cremastinae species from Turkey were obtained. Four species of them are new records for the Turkish fauna. The males of Temelucha turcata Kolarov and Beyarslan were described for the first time. Zoogeographical characterizations of each individual species were summarized.

A number of records of rotifers from Turkey are discussed. An account is given on trophi morphology in 4 species of Asplanchna Gosse, 1850. Cephalodella segersi De Smet, 1998 is recorded for the second time after its description, and Lecane shieli Segers and Sanoamuang, 1994 is recorded from Turkey for the first time. Both these and a population of Hexarthra polyodonta polyodonta (Hauer, 1957) from the species’ type locality, Lake Van, are illustrated using light and scanning electron microscopic techniques.

Forty-seven rotifer species were recorded from 11 freshwater bodies in Turkey. In all, 11 of these species, Cephalodella eva (Gosse, 1887), C. gibboides Wulfert, 1950, C. intuta Myers, 1924, C. maior (Zavadovsky, 1926), C. tenuiseta (Burn, 1890), Collotheca tenuilobata (Anderson, 1889), Monommata dentata Wulfert, 1940, Mytilina bisulcata (Lucks, 1912), Notommata tripus Ehrenberg, 1838, Paradicranophorus sordidus Donner, 1968, and Proales fallaciosa Wulfert, 1937 are new records for the Turkish fauna. Some of the recorded species were illustrated using light microscopy.

Two hydrophilid genera, Cymbiodyta Bedel 1881 and Chasmogenus (Watanabe, 1987), and 3 species, Cymbiodyta marginella (Fabricius, 1792), Enochrus (Methydrus) coarctatus (Gredler, 1863), and Chasmogenus (Crephelochares) orbus (Watanabe, 1987), are reported for the first time from Turkey. The ecological findings and morphological characters of these species are described, and their aedeagi are illustrated. Biological observations and distribution records for all the newly recorded species are also presented. Diagnostic characters are supported with microscope micrographs.

The perennial monocarpic endemic species Heracleum platytaenium Boiss. [Apiaceae (=Umbelliferae)] was collected with associated insects in Kızılcahamam (Ankara) between June and August in 2006-2007. Nine insects, namely Hemipterous Graphosoma lineatum (L.), G. semipunctatum (Fabricius) and Anoraphis subterranea (Walker), Coleopterous Lixus nordmanni Hochhuht, Lepidopterous Aethes kasyi Razowski, Epinotia thapsiana (Zeller) and Epermenia chaerophyllella (Goeze), Dipterous Melanagromyza heracleana Zlobin, and Lasiambia albidipennis (Strobl.) (Diptera) were determined on H. platytaenium. This study was carried out in the years of 2007 and 2008 in some provinces of Turkey. Specimens of leafminers were collected on cultured and non-cultured plants during 1 year. In this study, 29 new records belonging to 7 genera were found for the Turkish fauna. With this study, the number of leafminer species, which was 136 previously, has been updated to 165 species.

New Records For Two Sergestids: Sergestes Orientalis Hansen, 1919 And Sergia Umitakae Hashizume And Omori, 1995 (Crustacea, Decapoda, Sergestidae), Farzana Yousuf, Quddusi Bashir Kazmi

This paper is on 2 holopelagic shrimps, Sergestes orientalis and Sergia umitakae. Sergestes orientalis is examined on the basis of the material of the International Indian Ocean Expedition (IIOE) for taxonomy and distribution. The species was found during the Anton Brunn, Diamantina, Discovery, Oshoro Maru, and Varuna cruises, and reported from the tropical Indian Ocean, the Indo-Australian Archipelago, the western tropical Pacific, and Hawaiian Islands. Two research vessels (Diamantina, Oshoro Maru) collected the material of S. orientalis from the Bay of Bengal located at GPS coordinates between 21°30´S, 110°00´E and 05°55´S, 95°04´E.
