On Lacerta Danfordi (Reptilia: Lacertidae) Population Of The Köyceğiz Specially Protected Area, İbrahi̇m Baran, Yusuf Kumlutaş

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In this study, the material collected from Köyceğiz Specially Protected Area, and islands in the vicinity of Marmaris were divided into four different populations and examined comperatively from the view point of taxonomic characters. The populations inhabiting the western and eastern sides of the Köyceğiz Canal are distinctly different from each other regarding their supratemporal stripe characteristics.

A Study On Spiders (Araneae) In Grass Tussocks In Van Vicinity, Abdullah Bayram, M. İsmai̇l Varol

In April, July and December I994, grass tussocks were collected from a delta located between cereal fıelds, and spiders were investigated. A total of 2257 spiders, 1314 insects, and 693 other invertebrates were extracted from 45 tussocks belong to Juncus inflexus, Agrostis stolonifera, Puccinella distans and Alopecurus arundinaceus. Among the spiders most encountered families were wolf spiders (Lycosidae, % 52.6) and money spiders (Linyphiidae, % 22.5). Juncus inflexus tussocks sheltered most spiders individually. Taxonomik States Of The Lizards Species Living In Turkish Tharace (Lacertilia: Anguidae, Lacertidae, Scincidae), İ. Ethem Çevi̇k

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In this investigation, lizard species of Turkish Thrace are investigated indetail for the first time. Morphological characrteristics, range, distribution and subspecific states of the species are given. Furthermore, some observations concerning their biological and ecological characteristics are also given. In this study a total of 678 specimens and 10 species belonging to 3 families of Lacertilia have been investigated from Turkish Trace.

Taxsonomical States Of Lacerta Viridis (Lacertidae) Populations From Turkey, İ. Ethem Çevi̇k, Yusuf Kumlutaş

In this research, , A total of 64 MM and 37 VV adult specimens from Turkish Thrace and 158 MM and 188 VV adult specimens from Anatolia were investigated comparatively as two separate populations groups to determine the subspecific status of the species in Turkey. No significant differences are discernible between the two population groups from the viewpoints of pholidosis, morphometrical measurements and rations and pattern and coloration characteıistics. So the Turkish L. viridis populations belong to a single subspecies L. v. meridionalis.

A Taxonomical Study On The Cladocera And Copepoda Species (Crustacea) Of Mert, Erikli, Hamam, Pedina Lakes (İğneada/Kırklareli), Hüseyi̇n Güher

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In this study, the species of Cladocera and Copepoda in the Mert, Erikli, Hamam and Pedina lakes located in the region of İğneada/ Kırklareli were determined during the period of April 1993-May 1994. Results show that the study area is represented with a total of 32 Cladocera and 19 Copepoda species. Of these, Ceriodaphnia megops (Cladocera) is a new record for Turkey.

Investigation On The Blood Cell Counts Of Chalcides Ocellatus (Sauria: Scincidae) Population In Anatolia, Ahmet Mermer

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In this investigation, the blood cell counts (erythrocyts and leucocyts) of 136 Chalcides ocellatus specimens (75 females + 61 males), collected from different locations in Anatolia have been investigated from the view point of the effects of geographical distance and altitude factors. The blood cell counts are found to be highest in the population from Gaziantep-Urfa and the cause of this difference is evaluated as due to geographic variation.

An Investigation On The Morphology Of Genital Organs And Oviposition Capacit Of Cicadatra Persica Kirkaldy, 1909 (Cicadidae, Homoptera), Veysel Kartal, Ünal Zeybekoğlu

The aims of this study was determine the morphology of genital organs and maximum oviposition of capacity of a female of Cicadatra persica, which is distributed in Central Anatolia region is harmfull for plants. Therefore, 15 adult male and 15 adult female samples were investigated. The morphology of internal and external genital structures were identified and presented as illustrations. In a female, X 417±7 ovariols, in each ovariol X =3,4±0,1 oocyst were counted and the maximum egg number which was laid by a single female was found as X =1417±24.

Tabanidae (Diptera) Fauna Of Turkish Thrace Region, Ali̇ Yavuz Kiliç

Turkish Journal of Zoology

Sixtyfour species of Tabanidae (Diptera) were determinated in Trakya region of Turkey by this study. Eight of these, Chrysops relictus Meig., Dasyramphis anthracinus (Meig.), Atylotus latistriatus (Brauer), A. venturii Leclercq, Hybomitra bimaculata (Macq.), H. pilosa (Loew), Tabanus maculicornis Zetterstedt, Haematopota gallica Szi., are new records for Tabanidae fauna of Turkey. 33 out of 64 species were recorded by their distribution patterns in Trakya region for the first time. The number of Tabanidae species in Trakya region reached to 74 with this study and the previous records.

A different geological and geographical region of Turkey have been shown to inhabit a very rich avifauna. Thus, this study aims to introduce this region, which will contribute to the conservation of the region from various respects( erosion, hunting etc.).

The present study was undertaken to determine the fauna of Geometridae in Turkish Thrace. Samples were collected from 81 different localities between 19911993. Results show that Geometridae is represented with a total of 115 species belonging to 67 genus of 5 subfamilies as follows : Archiearinae; 1 genus and 1 species, Geometrinae; 4 genus and 4 species, Scopulinae; 7 genus and 41 species, Larentiinae; 22 genus and 31 species, Ennominae; 33 genus and 38 species. Reseaches On Parasitic Helminths Of Bufo Viridis Laurenti, 1768 (Anura; Amphibia), Hi̇kmet Sami̇ Yildirimhan

In this study, it has been investigated 119 night frog (58 males, 61 females) Bufo viridis Laurenti, 1768 collected from Bursa and Büyükdöllük Marsh place in Edirne between March 1993 and June 1995. During this study Polystoma viridis, Proteocephalus sp., Nematotaenia dispar (Included Plathelminthes), Rhabdias bufonis, Oswaldocruzia filiformis, Cosmocerca commutata, Cosmocercoides sp., Neoxsyomatium brevicautadum (Included Nemathelminthes), Acanthocephalus ranae (Included Acanthocephala) were found. This is the first study concerning the helminth fauna on the Bufo viridis distributed in Turkey. Also all the parasitic species found on the Bufo viridis have been recorded for the first time.

Identification Of Turbot (Scophthalmus Maximus) Stock Along The Turkish Black Sea Coast, Dursun Avşar

This study was performed in order to assessment of the turbot (Scophthalmus maximus) Stock from Southeastern Black Sea during April-September 1990 and September-October 1991. From the length-age data for both sexes, the following population parameters were estimated: Length-Weight relationship, W=0.0085*L^{3.18}; v. Bertalanffy growth constants, L_?(mm) = 825.7, K(year^{-1})=0.17, t_o (year)=-0.93, W_?(g) = 10590.43; total mortality and its components, Z=0.48, M=0.30 and F=0.18. Standing biomass of the turbot between 0 and 100 m depth range in September-October 1991 was found to be 407.6 tonnes and also there was an under exploitation rate on this stock as a rate of E=0.37.

In this research, 672 pikeperch samples which were catched between September 1993-August 1994 from Eğirdir Lake were investigated. Average length, weight; rate of increase in length and weight, age-weight and length-weight relationships for each age group of pikeperch were estimated. Result of the growth at the population of pikeperch especially low growth rate was seen in the II. age group. The catching musn't given permission the pikeperch which under 36.06 cm length in Eğirdir lake for the future of pikeperch population.

A total of 278 Capoeta capoeta capoeta were caught in the Çıldır Lake-Ardahan from May to December 1991. The age composition of C.c.capoeta specimens were between I-IX years and VI years old dominated with a rate of 31.54%. In the population, the percentages were calculated as 38.95% for males and 61.65% for females. A total of 179 Barbus lacerta were caught in the Çıldır Lake-Ardahan from May to December 1991. The age composition of B.plebejus specimens were between I-V years and II years old dominated with a rate of 47.49%. In this study, biological characteristics i.e. sex and age distribution, growth (in length and weight), growth rates, and condition factor of sprat (Sprattus sprattus phalericus) from the Eastern Blak Sea coast have been examined. In this research, sex and age compositions, age-length, age-weight, length-weight relations, condition factors were investigated on 674 chub (Leuciscus cephalus L., 1758) specimens caught from Lake Tödürge, Sivas between April and November 1994. The age composition of L. cephalus specimens were between I-VII years and sex percentages were calculated as 68.25 % for females and 31.75 % for males. In this study, the feeding biology is being examined on 80 Bufo viridis specimens (30 males, 50 females) which were all collected from 6 localities of the vicinity of İzmir. The changes in glycogen levels depending on starvation, feeding, aging and parasitisation in the mature female of Pimpla turionellae L. (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae), which is a biological control agent, have been observed. Glycogen level, which is a major energy source in insects, increased when the females of P.turionellae are fed with 30% honey, but it decreased depending on aging, starvation and parasitism. There was a positive relationship between the glycogen level of an insect and the number of its eggs laid within the host pupae.

In this study, effects of two hericides on pupa formation period, pupa period and number of adults in F_1, F_2 and F_3 generations of Drosophila melnogaster were investigated. 300 ppm concentraiton of 2-4-D applied on parent stock and F_1 generation has lengtened the pupa formation period and pupa period of D. melanogaster in F_1 generation, while it reduced the number of adults another effective concentration was 100 ppm which has shortened the pupa period in F_3 generation. Inhibitory effect of bendiocarb on serum and whole blood cholinesterase activities of rats was investigated in laboratory conditions, bendiocarb a carbamate insecticide, was applied dermally to the rats. The concentrations of insecticide (80% WP) were choosen in accordance with the spray dosages used for mosquito control and the LD_{50} dermal dosages for rats. In vitro inhibition of serum cholinesterase activity was determined by using technical bendiocarb in the same dermal dosages. In this study, changes in amino acid composition of egg, larvae and larvae tissue which was separated from yolk sac mass of African catfish (Clarias gariepinus Burchell, 1822) during yolk sac stage and starving larvae were investigated. In the yolk sac period, there was no change of each amino acid amounts (g/100 g dry matter) in larvae tissue in spite of conspicuous changes were determined in whole larvae amino acid amounts such as leucine, isoleucine, valine, alanine and serine. In this study ultrastructures of Balantidium elongatum and B.duodeni obtained from the digestive system of Rana ridibunda have been examined. In addition to the kinetodesmal fibril and microtubular fibrils orijinating from each kinetosome, a vacuolar zone, microtubular bundles and other cytoplasmic structures have been described by electron microscopy.
