The aim of this study was to investigate whether vaccenic acid (VA) added to TRIS semen extender has an effect on freezing bull semen. The semen was collected at intervals of three days through an artificial vagina then pooled. The pooled ejaculates were divided into five components as the control (C; no supplement) and VA (25, 50, 100, and 200 μg / mL) groups then extended with the TRIS-based medium. The objective of the study was to investigate the effect of genotype, age, stocking density, and cage tier on the feather score of egg-laying pure lines. The trial was carried out with five white (BLACK, BLUE, MARON, BROWN, and D229) and six brown (RIR1, RIR2, BAR1, BAR2, COL, and LINE54) eggshell lines as classified by the Ankara poultry research institute. In this study, we proposed a new game theoretic method to design a mating program. The index and game theoretic methods were applied with calculated breeding values using pedigree on two different data sets whose economic traits consist of negative (milk yield and fat percentage) and positive (birth and weaning weight) genetic correlated data. DNA isolations from the whole blood are commonly performed to obtain DNA for molecular research and diagnostics. Generally, blood samples are taken into anticoagulant tubes and stored in deep freezers until DNA isolation. This study is set out to evaluate the effects of callipyge (CLPG) gene, attributed to sheep affecting growth and meat quality, on carcass and sensory trait of most preferred meat-type lamb (Kıvırcık, Karacabey Merino, Ramlıç, German Black-Head Mutton × Kıvırcık, Hampshire Down × Merino) in the western part of Turkey. Ticks are well known as hematophagous ectoparasites, which cause different diseases in humans and animals. This investigation was designed in central Iran to assess the prevalence, intensity, and abundance of tick infestation in stray dogs and detection of Ehrlichia canis. Overall, 962 ticks were collected from 260 stray dogs between April and August 2018. DNA samples with the goal of amplification of pathogen were screened by real-time PCR assay. Aim of this study was to comparatively investigate the wool characteristics of Central Anatolian Merino, Karacabey Merino and Ramlıç sheep, which are common crossbred sheep breeds in Turkey. A total of 360 wool samples were equally collected from the shoulder, rib, and rump of each lamb (3-6 months-age), yearlings (1-1.5-year age), primiparous ewes (2-2.5-year age) and multiparous ewes (3-3.5-year age) were used for analysis. Some Hematological Parameters And Enzyme Histochemistry Of Peripheral Bloodleukocytes In Kivircik Sheep, Mehmet Faruk Aydin, İhsan Kisadere

The aim of the present study was to determine some hematological parameters (RBC, WBC, HCT, HGB, MCH, MCHC, MCV, and PLT), the presence and percentages of ANAE and AcP-ase positivities in leukocytes and the differential leukocyte count in Kivircik sheep. Blood samples were taken from the jugular vein of 40 (rams = 20; ewes= 20) healthy, 1-year-old sheep. MCH and MCHC values were found statistically higher in rams than ewes (p < 0.05). Mean percentages of ANAE-positive PBL were defined as 74.16 ± 11.94% in ewes and 70.33 ± 8.39% in rams. It was not determined any significant changes according to sex. On the other hand, the percentages of ACP were determined as 67.12 ± 6.54% in ewes and 66.71 ± 6.58% in rams. It was not found any significant differences according to sex. For ANAE enzyme activity, lymphocytes, monocytes, neutrophils, and eosinophilic granulocytes showed a positive reaction. For ACP enzyme activity, although lymphocytes presented positivity, monocytes, neutrophils, eosinophils were negative. The ratio of lymphocyte, monocyte, neutrophile, eosinophile, and basophile of Kivircik ewes and rams were found as 64.35 ± 5.74%, 60.64 ± 8.85%; 3.41 ± 1.27%, 3.82 ± 1.42%; 27.58 ± 5.46%, 30.94 ± 8.71%; 2.41 ± 0.93%, 2.88 ± 1.45%; 1.76 ± 0.75%, 1.29 ± 0.58%, respectively. The difference between mean values was not found significant according to sex (p > 0.05). In this study, monensin (MON) was investigated for its apoptotic and genotoxic effects on chick liver tissue and cytotoxic and apoptotic effects on chick primary hepatocytes isolated from perfused liver tissue. Western blotting and real-time PCR (qPCR) were used to determine the apoptotic effect on primary hepatocytes and liver tissue, and the comet assay was used to determine the genotoxic effect on liver tissue. The aim of the study was to assess the ability of horses to learn how to open feeder boxes in a direction associated with the time of day. The study involved 10 horses. The first stage of the study consisted in learning how to complete the task. The second stage involved the test and was followed by a control stage. The results indicated the highest number of failed attempts in the leftward movement test. The mean time required by the horses to complete the task of the leftward opening (10.27 s) was twofold longer than in the rightward direction test …

Malassezia pachydermatis is an opportunistic yeast found in the ear canal of small animals; however, the current azole-based therapy applied to it has failed to achieve clinical success due to the antifungal resistance. This issue has encouraged the studies in natural products, such as Origanum vulgare (oregano), Origanum majorana (marjoram) and Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) essential oils, although their mechanism of action remains unclear. Malassezia pachydermatis specimens deriving from otitis cases in dogs (n = 22) and cats (n = 2) were subjected to CLSI M27-A3. The paper presents the results of a rabbit blood biochemical study after the substitution of simulated defects in spongy and compact bone tissue by platelet-rich fibrin and its combination with hydroxyapatite granules with ß-tricalcium phosphate. In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of microbial inoculants and molasses on the quality and in vitro digestibility of the silages ensiled from the cultivation of different proportions of ryegrass-Hungarian vetch mixtures grown in Central Anatolian conditions. Dirofilaria immitis (D. immitis); is a parasitic zoonosis with a prevalence of 53.8%, whose intermediate host is mosquitoes (Anopheles, Aedes, Culex, Taeniorhychus, Mansonia and Armigenes), final hosts are carnivores (dog, cat, fox, etc.) and humans. Eighteen female Sahiwal calves of average four month of age and 54 kg body weight were selected for the study. The animals were divided into three groups (T0, T1, and T2) on body weight basis.
