Loading of feedstuffs in planned amounts in total mixed ration (TMR) recipes are very important in terms of profitability, productivity, animal health, and performance. In the scope of this study, the planned and loaded feedstuffs amounts were determined in the mixer wagons. The study was conducted on a dairy cattle farm with ~1500 milking cow capacity. In this study, 13,276 feedstuffs loading data were examined and the mean and standard deviation of the deviation from the planned amount was 8.95 ± 18.38%. Leptin is a hormone-like protein consisting of 167 amino acids. The aim of this study is to compare the effects of different leptin concentrations on in vitro and in vivo embryo development rates. In vitro development rates were investigated by embryo culture studies, and in vivo implantation rates and the quality of embryos were assessed by embryo transfers to the recipient mice. The results showed that addition of leptin into the embryo culture medium at 10 and 100 ng/mL doses supported the in vitro development of mouse embryo. The meat quality of Akkaraman, Bafra, and Bafra × Akkaraman F$_{1}$ (BAF$_{1}$) lamb genotypes was determined and then compared at slaughter weights of 34 and 42 kg. At the beginning of the study, 36 male lambs were fed intensively after weaning at approximately 3 months of age. Six animals of each genotype were slaughtered at each slaughter weight and certain meat quality characteristics, namely meat color, pH, cooking loss, tenderness, water holding capacity, and fatty acid profile, were investigated. A new attempt was undertaken to check the reproductive capabilities of male hybrids bred from European bison (Bison bonasus) and domestic cattle (Bos taurus). The analysis concerned two hybrids aged 1.5?2.5 years (the latter being sampled twice at 6-month intervals), and additionally one 1.5-year-old backcross hybrid. Examination of testicular tissue revealed halting of spermatogenesis, which was hardly ever able to proceed further than meiosis I. Spermatogenesis was arrested at the stage of spermatogonia and primary spermatocytes. Spermatozoa were found only in the case of one hybrid and these were mostly malformed. The aim of this study was to investigate nonesterified fatty acid (NEFA), beta-hydroxy butyric acid (BHBA), and milk urea nitrogen (MUN) profiles for dairy cows fed with rumen-protected choline (RPC) during the transition period. A total of 30 dairy cows were allocated to one control and two experimental groups (10 animals per group) and were fed from 3 weeks before calving to 21 days in milk. This study was performed to characterize the coexistence of valvar insufficiencies of the mitral, tricuspid, aortic, and pulmonary valves and their possible association with atrial fibrillation in an equine clinic population. During an 11-year period, 348 horses had been examined for cardiac arrhythmias and suspected defects of the cardiac valves at the Vetmeduni Vienna, Austria. The aim of this study was to evaluate the serological diagnostic potential of the Brucella recombinant outer membrane (rOMP25, rOMP31) and periplasmic proteins (rBP26, rSOD) in a comparative way using an indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (i-ELISA). Rabbit and/or mouse antibodies to Brucella whole cell and/or soluble protein preparations recognized all recombinant proteins used, which confirms the expression of target antigens in E. coli in active form. The recombinant proteins showed different antigenicity to antibodies of cattle kept on a brucellosis-affected (endemic) farm and/or a new focus of infection. A three-year-old Labrador bitch was presented to the Madras Veterinary College Teaching Hospital with the history of having delivered two live puppies in the morning with no further signs of parturition. The present study aimed to monitor the practices of Algerian veterinarians in the diagnosis and treatment of puerperal metritis (PM) and clinical endometritis (CE) in cattle. For this purpose, a questionnaire was established and distributed to collect the information concerning veterinarian profiles and practices related to the diagnosis and treatment of PM and CE. The results showed that examinations of the uterus (rectal palpation), vaginal discharge, and rectal temperature were the most practiced methods for PM (71%, 68%, and 83%, respectively) and CE (86%, 60%, and 65%, respectively) diagnosis. A 5-year-old Swedish Red cow, pregnant for 465 days according to the last insemination record, was presented in this case. She conceived by artificial insemination at spontaneous estrus using frozen-thawed sperm of Swedish Red sire. No abnormalities were detected during gestation and no clinical signs of parturition at the expected time of delivery were noted. She was reexamined several times to eliminate breeding records error and, once prolonged gestation was confirmed, parturition was induced. The calf survived birth but died 10 min after birth. Specimens of Oreochromis niloticus (One control and 3 experimental groups) were fed diets mixed with different doses of mercury (control group = free of mercury; group 1 = 500 mg/kg; group 2 = 750 mg/kg, and group 3 = 1000 mg/kg) for 60 days in order to study its accumulation and histopathological alterations in the liver, gills, skeletal muscles, and skin. The results obtained revealed that mercury accumulation was significantly (P < 0.05) high in the liver and gills compared to the muscles and skin. The order of accumulation in these organs revealed to be liver > gills > muscles > skin. The fish fed various doses of mercury also showed histological alterations in these organs. This study was conducted to detect the prevalence and presence of bovine herpesvirus-1 (BoHV-1) using immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunofluorescence (IF) and antigen enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in the lung samples of cattle (n = 1023). In addition, three methods were compared using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) and chi-square test ($χ^{2}$ test), and their usability were evaluated in laboratory conditions. Macroscopically, pneumonia was seen in 120 of the lung tissue samples (11.73%). Based on the microscopic examinations, the pneumonia types were classified as catarrhal-suppurative bronchopneumonia (6.7%), fibrinous bronchopneumonia (5%), interstitial pneumonia (84.1%), and granulomatous pneumonia (4.2%). The aim of this study was to compare Kangal shepherd dogs with and without ankyloglossia in terms of various physiological and behavioral changes. A total of 24 dogs were used, 11 of which have had ankyloglossia and 13 of which did not have ankyloglossia. Heart rates, respiratory rates, and body temperatures of the dogs were measured at three different environmental temperatures (18, 23, and 28 °C), resting state, and different exercise durations (5, 10, and 15 min). Snake Envenomation In Two Cattle: Clinical/Laboratory Aspects And Treatment Using Equine-Derived Antivenin Of Viperidae, Nuri̇ Altuğ, Cafer Tayer İşler

In this case report, specific antivenin treatment for Viperidae snake envenomation in two cattle was defined for the first time. The diagnosis of snake envenomation was made according to the history and clinical findings. Clinical examination revealed systemic (tachycardia, dyspnea, cyanosis, hypersalivation, ruminal hypotony) and local (swelling of the leg and head) findings depending on the location of snake bites. Laboratory analysis determined granulocytic leukocytosis, monocytosis, decreased iron binding capacity, and increased CK and LDH enzyme activities. Sacbrood virus (SBV) is widely distributed in honeybees. It is an infectious and contagious disease, which affects both the larvae and adult stages of honeybees (Apis mellifera). This study reports the detection of sacbrood virus in Turkey in 2017. Phylogenetic analysis based on partial sequences encoding the polyprotein gene was carried out in SBV-infected bees from four different apiaries. Phylogenetic analysis revealed noteworthy results. Although European-South American, Asian, and Korean genotypes have a maximum of 5.3% variance with each other, the variation rates between them and the Turkish genotype were 10.4%, 11.4%, and 12.5%, respectively.
