Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

In this study, the influence of different methods of feed restriction on the performance of broiler with two genotypes, was investigated. Compensatory growth after feed restriction was studied and the effects of the restriction on feed consumption, growth and carcass characteristics were discussed. Broilers in each genotypes were separated in three groups randomly. In the first group, all birds were fed fully (Control). Feed restriction at the level of basal metabolism were used from 7 to 14 days of age in second group, and from 14 to 21 days of age in third group. There has been evidence of compensatory …

The pastramies which were prepared experimentally have been mixed with the various cemen pastes and the effects of these mix-tures on the microbiological quality of pastramies were investigated on the 1st, 7th, 15th, 30th and 60th days. The count of total microorganisms was between 2.8x10 7 and 7.0x10 7 /g on the first day, and between 2.2x10 6 -3.4x10 6 /g on the 60 th day. The number of microorganisms showed remarkable differences between the groups in cemen paste according to its …

Fine Structure Of The Chloride Cell In The Gill Epithelium Of Brachydaniorerio(Cyprinidae, Teleostei), Sema Isisağ, Hatice Karakişi Jan 1998

Fine Structure Of The Chloride Cell In The Gill Epithelium Of Brachydaniorerio(Cyprinidae, Teleostei), Sema Isisağ, Hatice Karakişi

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The main ultrastructural properties of the gill epithelium of the zebrafish, Brachydanio rerio are investigated. The pavement cells are distinguished with their microvilli, infolding protrusions and construction of an intercellular channel system, while the chloride cells sited in filamental and especially respiratory lamellar epithelia are characterized by a high number of well developed, large mitochondria and an expansive, membranous tubular system. The close relationship observed between these cell types indicates that, at least ultrastructurally, chloride cells are communicated with the external milieu via the channel system of the pavement cells.

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The aim of the this study was to develop a model to estimate the individual feed consumption of fattening lambs which were fed in groups adlibitum. The individual feed consumption and live weight data obtained from the 3 previous works weresed. The feed consumption of 76 lambs in 41 different fattening periods were estimated by using the developed model and individual consumption values and group averages were compared with the estimated values. The model estimated the individual feed intake better than group averages in 33 of 41 calculations.

Probability density functions were estimated using maximum-likelihood estimators for the linear score of individual-cow composite milk samples culture negative and culture positive for the pathogens Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus non-agalactiae, Staphylococcus aureus, and coagulase-negative staphylococci for the complete dataset and by bulk-tank somatic-cell count group (< 500 000, ≥ 500 000 SCC/ml). Based on the rankings of three goodness-of-fit tests (Anderson-Darling, Kolmogorov-Smirnov and x2 …
