Distribution And Abundance Of Pest Animals In Western Australia: A Survey Of Institutional Knowledge, Andrew P. Woolnough, Garry S. Gray, Tim J. Lowe, Winifred E. Kirkpatrick, Ken Rose, Gary R. Martin
Agriculture reports
Data on the distribution and abundance of selected pest animals were obtained for the state of Western Australia. We used institutional knowledge from the Department of Agriculture (DAWA) and the Department of Conservation and Land Management (CALM) to acquire this important information.A two-part survey process was used to capture knowledge in 104 face-to-face interviews. The first part of the survey was a questionnaire designed to capture local-area information about pest animals. The second part of the survey, a mapping exercise, was designed to capture information about the distribution and abundance of specific pest animals. The key to the mapping exercise …

Fisheries Research Contract Reports
In addition to the supply of water for agriculture, irrigation dams of south-western Australia are important systems for recreational activities, including fishing (Molony & Bird 2002, Molony et al. 2002a). Lake Navarino (the reservoir created by Waroona Dam, figures 1 and 2, approx. 115° 55 E 32° 51 S) is the first major public access reservoir south of the Perth Metropolitan Area and is an important component of the Recreational Marron (Cherax tenuimanus') Fishery (RMF) (Molony 2001a, 2002a, 2003a, Molony & Bird 2002, Beatty et al. 2003a). Further, it is the most northerly irrigation dam that is regularly stocked with …

You Can Help Keep Western Australia Free Of Pest Animals, Marion Massam
Bulletins 4000 -
Quite apart from their economic and environmental impacts, the sheer nuisance value that certain pest animals can create for people - even in the shelter of our own backyards - is reason enough to want to keep them out of Western Australia.
Currently our State is free from numerous pest animals that, interstate or overseas, damage crops, spread exotic diseases, endanger the survival of native animals and disturb habitats.
You can help in maintaining this freedom, by being on the lookout for the animals featured on the following pages. As yet, they are either absent from Western Australia or confined …

The Status And Impact Of The Rainbow Lorikeet (Trichoglossus Haematodus Moluccanus) In South-West Western Australia, Tamara Chapman
Agriculture reports
This report provides a summary of the biology and ecology of the rainbow lorikeet (Trichoglossus haematodus moluccanus), examines the status and management of the rainbow lorikeet in other regions; assesses the threats posed by the feral population in south-west Western Australia; and formulates the aims and objectives for an integrated pest management program.
