Grain Prices Received By Farmers Fob Chamberlain, South Dakota, Weber Peterson
Grain Prices Received By Farmers Fob Chamberlain, South Dakota, Weber Peterson
Agricultural Experiment Station Agricultural Economics Pamphlets (1941-1991)
The series of grain prices here presented are calculated from records of terminal market prices by deducting freight charges. In the absence of actual historical local price data this will serve many of the same purposes, subject to the limitations discussed on the inside back cover page. People interested in agriculture and efficient farming are very much concerned about prices. Unlike producers of branded products, farmers have been unable individually to control market prices through control of production. Since individual farmers have found that, in general, prices have been determined by forces beyond their control they have attempted to increase …

Bromegrass Production In Nebraska, A. L. Frolik, L. C. Newell
Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station: Historical Circulars
A native of the old world, from central Europe to China, bromegrass was introduced into the United States about 1884. In 1899, the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station reported that "all things considered, it is the most promising cultivated pasture grass for this state that has been tested on the Station farm." Early records of the Station show that considerable seed was distributed to farmers during the period from 1898 to 1902. A few of these early plantings are still in existence. Bromegrass increased in popularity in Nebraska until about 1910. Very little interest was shown in this crop during the …

Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station: Historical Circulars
Pastures are an important source of feed in the livestock industry. Approximately 70 per cent of the income from Nebraska farms is from the sale of livestock and livestock products, and for this reason consideration should be given to the maintenance of good pastures. Poor pastures, like other poor crops, are expensive. Good grass cover is also an effective means of conserving the soil resources.

Ec41-9940 Home Made Bread And Rolls, Mabel Doremus
University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension: Historical Materials
Bread making is often referred to as one of the "lost arts." This is far from the truth even in these days when women participate in a wide variey of activities. Today's women are constantly alert to modern trends, and one of the most important concerns is good bread for the family.
Since bread is served so often in one formor another, it is most desirable that it be of excellent quality. The homemaker who takes pride in serving good foods often bakes some or all of the bread for her family. She decides whether she will bake or buy, …
