The purpose of this paper is to set forth the way in which a specific sub-retail center has been planned and built in order to more efficiently serve the trade territory on which it depends. The shopping center selected for study is one of several strikingly similar projects which are being developed in widely separated areas west of the Mississippi River. All have been in operation a relatively short period of time, each was begun almost immediately after the financial crisis of 1929, and each has been built to meet the demand by automobile trade for more accessible and less …

In 1929 Dr. E. L. Rippy presented the Biology Department of Southern Methodist University with several ungulate skulls found near Kerrville, Texas. The writer noticed that one male horse skull has the left maxillary first molar extremely elongated, projecting twenty-eight millimeters beyond the normal distance between the fourth premolar and the second molar in the form of a wedge.

Several months ago a human skeleton was taken from a gravel and sand pit in northwestern Dallas County. The bones were embedded in sand about 6 feet below the surface of a terrace spur on the south side of Denton Creek, a branch of Elm Fork of the Trinity River.

The Carrollton area is located in the northwestern part of Dallas County in the black prairie region of the Gulf Coast province of Texas. The area represented by the map covering approximately fifty square miles, is bounded on the north by the Dallas-Denton County line, on the south by the Joe Field road, on the east by meridian 96°45', and on the west by the 97th meridian.

Approximately three miles west of Palo Pinto, Texas, on U. S. Highway 80, is a typical rock city known as Lovers' Retreat. The locality, one of several rock cities in Palo Pinto County, is roughly rectangular in shape and extends for a thousand feet or more along the north side of the highway. Lovers' Retreat is well known in Texas and people come from all parts of the state to picnic in the groves along Eagle Creek and to explore the narrow passsageways between the huge blocks of limestone on the north side of the stream.

At many localities along the outcrop of the Austin formation in Dallas County, Texas, channel fillings apparently composed of reworked bedrock occur at levels above the highest stream terraces. If a post-Cretaceous chronology for this portion of Texas is to be formulated, these channel fillings must be taken into account. A more immediate problem, however, is that of the origin of the fillings themselves.

While among the Lepidoptera hermaphroditism has previously been well known, this phenomenon has hitherto been considered unusual among the Skippers….Bell is of the opinion that hermaphroditism occurs more frequently among the Skippers than was previously thought. Since this rather obscure group of butterflies is often overlooked by the casual collector, it is easy to see why so few hermaphrodite Hesperiids have been collected and observed.

In the vicinity of Odessa meteorite crater are a number of sinks which, viewed from the air, closely resemble the crater in plan and general configuration. It is suggested that at least one of these sinks may be a meteorite crater modified, since the time of its formation, by the solvent action of ground water on the underlying bedrock.

Man's desire for the precious metals has taken him into remote areas of the earth. This untiring search for gold lead to the exploration of the canyons of the Rocky Mountains. In 1859 there appeared in an isolated mountain valley of northern Colorado, a small settlement, later to be known as Central City, that boomed suddenly, lived brilliantly, and died quickly, only to be revived in 1932.

In the Finlay Mountains at longitude 105° 39' west, and latitude 31° 23' north, Fort Hancock Sheet, Texas, there is a former Indian campsite located on the steeper face of a cuesta fronting the east. Crude natural shelters are formed by many of the boulders which bestrew the cuesta face. They were derived from the cap rock of Cox sandstone. Many of these boulders and the face of the cliff formed by the cap rock are covered with petroglyphs.

Free radicals are complexes of abnormal valency, which possess additive properties, but do not carry an electrical charge and are not free ions. Since Lavoisier introduced his theory of radicals in 1785 there has been the conviction among chemists that the radicals of organic chemistry could be isolated in the free state.
