Bulletin No. 90 - Feeding Beet Molasses And Pulp To Sheep And Steers, Lewis A. Merrill, R. W. Clark
Bulletin No. 90 - Feeding Beet Molasses And Pulp To Sheep And Steers, Lewis A. Merrill, R. W. Clark
UAES Bulletins
Very few stockmen possess a knowledge of the value of beet pulp and beet molasses as animal food. Very little is known of the food value of molasses, but much information has accumulated, from time to time, concerning the value of pulp as stock food. The most authentic data at hand concerning the food value of pulp come from our experiment stations. To emphasize the value of pulp with the view to encourage small farmers to use it and thereby strengthen the live stock industry of the State, the results obtained by some of our experiment stations are given in …
Descriptions Of Two New Hymenoptera From Japan - I, William H. Ashmead
Descriptions Of Two New Hymenoptera From Japan - I, William H. Ashmead

For several years past I have been classifying, arranging and determining the Japanese Hymenoptera in the National Museum, presented by several valued correspondents, among whom special mention should be made of Dr. Mitsukuri, of Tokyo, Mr. Y. Nawa, of Gifu, Dr. Matsumura, of Sapporo, and Mr. A. Koebele, now government entomologist of the Hawaiian Islands, whose contributions are of especial value and contain many new species, particularly among the parasitic families. The new species in the superfamilies Sphecoidea, Vespoidea, Proctotrypoidea, Cynipoidea and Chalcidoidea are treated here. Those in the Ichneumonoidea and other superfamilies will be described in another paper.

Circular No. 2 - Memoranda Of Plans Of Irrigation Investigations
UAES Circulars
The present series of irrigation investigations was begun in 1901, and has been continued since then. Since January 1st, 1904, the investigations have been carried on in co-operation with the Irrigation Investigations (Chief Professor Elwood Mead) of the Office of Experiment Station, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Circular No. 1 - Memoranda Of Plans For Arid Farm Investigations
UAES Circulars
The Legislature of 1903 made an appropriation for the purpose of conducting experiments on the possibility of growing useful crops without irrigation in various parts of the State of Utah. The work was placed under the direction of the Utah Experiment Station. Six farms have been located under this act, and cultural and other work has been begun. This circular which contains the plans of the proposed investigations has been prepared for the convenience of those employed in the investigations.

Bulletin No. 87 - The Codling Moth, E. D. Ball
UAES Bulletins
The codling moth has been in the State of Utah for over twenty-five years and is now injuriously abundant in every apple-growing section. It is by far the worst pest with which the fruit grower has to contend. In fact, it usually does more damage than all the other fruit insects put together.
It occurs throughout every apple-growing region of the United States, and is found in almost every country where the apple is grown, destroying from one-fourth to three-fourths of the apple crop where no effort is made to check its ravages. Dr. Howard the United States Entomologist, recently …

In a paper entitled A List of the Hymenoptera of the Phillipine Islands, with descriptions of New Species, I recorded 183 species of these insects from the Phillipines, although several doubtful species mentioned by Fr. Castro de Elera in his Catalogo de todo la Fauna Fillipinas were cited but not included in this number. Two genera and thirty-one species were described as new to science in this first paper.

Considering the extent of the Philippine Islands, extending as they do over 1,200 miles of territory, our knowledge of the Hymenopterous fauna is singularly meager. More attention should be given to collecting these important insects. Since the islands came into the possession of the United States much material has been sent to the National Museum, and with the hope that more attention will be given to the collecting and study of this order in the Philippines, I give be-low a list of the known species, and describe most of the new species now in our collection.

Spinola in 1851 described and figured Diphaglossa Gayi as a new species and new genus closely related to Anthophora. It was founded on males and females collected in northern Chili, "Santa Rosa , Coquimbo, etc." He figures the insect (natural size), face view of head and mouth-parts, wing, antennae and leg.
