Enterprise Risk Management And Firm Performance In China: The Moderating Role Of Risk Management Committee, Liang Yankun

Student Works (2020-2029)

Risk management has increasingly become an interesting topic among the academicians and industry practitioners, following the 2008 global financial crisis. Motivated from the growing evidence of the significant role of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) in improving firm performance, this study examines the relationship between ERM and firm performance in the context of China. Furthermore, this study explores the moderating role of risk management committee (RMC) on the relationship between ERM and firm performance in China. Drawing upon 94 public listed firms on the Shanghai Stock Exchange from 2018 to 2021, this study finds that ERM has significantly and positively affects …

Quantitative Risk Assessment And Dispersion Modelling Using Aloha For Chlorine Gas Handling Facility, Kusala Uvaraja Aug 2020

Quantitative Risk Assessment And Dispersion Modelling Using Aloha For Chlorine Gas Handling Facility, Kusala Uvaraja

Student Works (2020-2029)

Malay-Sino Chemical Industries Sdn Bhd (Lahat) is a chlor-alkali industry consist of Emergency Chlorine Gas Handling Facility (ECGHF) which have the tendency to affect the plant workers and nearby residential area in the event of accidental chlorine gas release. HAZOP tool with risk assessment was used to identify the hazard and quantifying the hazards in order to prioritize the recommendations at the ECGHF. Possible incident scenario was selected from the HAZOP outcome which was the chlorine gas release from the stack due to scrubbing flow failure. The consequences of the released chlorine gas to the atmosphere was simulated by using …

Performance Of A New Passive Damper For Seismic Protection Of Structures, Ghaedi Khaled Jul 2020

Performance Of A New Passive Damper For Seismic Protection Of Structures, Ghaedi Khaled

Student Works (2020-2029)

Passive energy dissipation devices have been successfully implemented in buildings around the world to reduce structural responses primarily to earthquakes, wind and other dynamic loads. Unlike active and semi-active control systems, passive systems make use of control devices that serve secondary functions. They are connected to structural members to increase structural damping without the use of external forces. The aim of this research is to introduce and investigate the performance of a new passive damper device called bar damper (BD), which is made of a number of solid bars sandwiched between two plates. The concept, placement and material properties of …

Risk Assessment In Waste Sampling Activity For A Selected Food Industry, Razali Nurul Syazreen Jun 2020

Risk Assessment In Waste Sampling Activity For A Selected Food Industry, Razali Nurul Syazreen

Student Works (2020-2029)

Waste sampling is one of the main activities during environmental audit. This activity has been estimated as a non-risky activity and lead to inadequate risk assessment in the activity. The purpose of this study is to create a safer workplace for enforcement body in general and DOE officer in specific during waste sampling activity. Main objectives are to identify the hazards, further assess the hazards and determine the control measure to reduce the hazards. Observation and on-the-job training have been conducted to three food industry located in Shah Alam to identify the hazards. Structured surveys were conducted with 293 participants …

Comparison Of Different Power System Resilience Assessment Methods, Jian How Sam Chan Jun 2020

Comparison Of Different Power System Resilience Assessment Methods, Jian How Sam Chan

Student Works (2020-2029)

Climate change has been given significant attention in recent times, calling for more ideas to address issues stemming from extreme weather events. Until climate change can be slowed down and ultimately be reversed, it is an imminent objective to find solutions for the mitigation and prevention of the effects of catastrophic weather events. History has a record of the devastation caused by such events on electrical power infrastructures. While electrical power systems have conventionally been designed and built to weather everyday conditions, confronting cataclysmic high-impact, low-probability events will require more resilient attributes. Power systems are often deemed as the backbone …
