Additive manufacturing (AM) enables the spatially configurable 3D integration of sensors in metal components to realize smart materials and structures. Outstanding sensing capabilities and size compatibility have made fiber optic sensors excellent candidates for integration in AM components. In this study, fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors were embedded in Inconel 718 tensile coupons printed using laser powder bed fusion AM. On-axis (fiber runs through the coupon’s center of axis) and off-axis (fiber is at 5° and 10° to the coupon’s center of axis) sensors were buried in epoxy resin inside narrow channels that run through the coupons. Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) play a big part in the vision of a net-zero emission economy, yet it is commonly reported that only a small percentage of LIBs are recycled worldwide. An outstanding barrier to making recycling LIBs economical throughout the supply chain pertains to the uncertainty surrounding their remaining useful life (RUL). How do operating conditions impact initial useful life of the battery? This can be achieved through combining specific waste paper baskets, a pulping machine and power supplied by a renewable energy source, with an already established local paper making company. The construction industry is associated with risks that can result in musculoskeletal diseases. Although young male workers who are presumed to be healthy dominate the industry in Tanzania, body pain complaints have been widely reported. The aim of this study is to assess the prevalence and causes of body pains in workers. A cross-sectional study involving 396 workers was conducted. A chi square test was used for testing association of independent categorical variables and binary logistic regression analysis was used to determine predictors for body pain complaints. Petroleum economic evaluation involves estimating revenues from forecasted production profiles and field costs including capital expenditures (CAPEX), drilling expenses (DRILLEX), and operating expenses (OPEX). Yankee Insulation Products will use this project to create rolls of Aluminum foil tape that are included in their Therma-Dome assembly kit. RecorDIY is an affordable alternative to ordering Vinyl Records from a manufacturer in the form of an at-home record-cutting lathe. This report will cover the record cutting process from audio to physical, at home record lathes that are currently available, and the possible improvements that I plan to implement in order to make these devices a more viable alternative for small artists. Laser-induced-forward-transfer (LIFT) bioprinting technology has been viewed as a regenerative medicine technology because of its high printing quality and good cell viability. To stabilize the jet to achieve high-quality printing, an energy-absorbing layer (EAL) can be introduced. In this study, three materials (graphene, gelatin, and gold) were utilized as the EAL. The effect of each EAL on the jet generation process was investigated. Besides, the effect of graphene EAL thickness was addressed for various experimental conditions. This study aspires to find a new screening approach to trace DNA recovery techniques to yield a higher quantity of trace DNA from larger items of evidence. It takes the path of visualizing trace DNA on items of evidence with potential DNA so analysts can swab a more localized area rather than attempting to recover trace DNA through the general swabbing technique currently used for trace DNA recovery. In investigations, locating missing persons and clandestine remains are imperative. One way that first responder and police agencies can search for the remains is by using cadaver dogs as biological detectors. Cadaver dogs are typically used due to their olfactory sensitivity and ability to detect low concentrations of volatile organic compounds produced by biological remains. Cadaver dogs are typically chosen for their stamina, agility, and olfactory sensitivity.
