Abstract: Combined with the key link of the general cargo loading and unloading operations, the system simulation method is employed to analyze the production efficiency for the general cargo handling operation. The Plant Simulation software is used to design the main modules of the production process such as collection operation, vessel arrival, yard operation, horizontal transportation, ship-loading operation. The simulation model of general cargo handling operation is established based on the whole operation process. Abstract: The mathematical model of doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) with stator inter-turn fault, which presents itself as standard form state space equation, is deduced and established, for the first time. The corresponding simulation model, i.e. Matlab S-function block is developed and embedded in a Matlab built-in routine simulating DFIG unit comprising wind turbine, converter, related mechanical/electrical control and DFIG. Abstract: The multicomponent gas replacement operations in the sealed capsule with cavities connected by slit are modeled and simulated based on the analytic estimation and the CFD numerical simulation methods in this paper. Corresponding result comparisons and discussions on the time costs and replacement effects of different replacement operations and parameters are presented. The estimation and numerical simulation results of mixing and compression replacement operations with different gas velocities demonstrate that, for the cavity connected by slit, analytic estimation method underestimates the effects of mixing replacement operation, but overestimates the compression replacement effects. Abstract: This paper researches on a continuous berth and quay crane allocation problem for low carbon container terminal. Considering the constraints of stochastic arrival time and limited truck transportation ability, a multi-objective nonlinear mixed integer programming model is established to minimize carbon emissions and average delay time. An efficient non-dominate sorting genetic algorithm II (ENSGA-II) is designed to deal with this problem. Abstract: Based on the theory of multi-conductor transmission line, the crosstalk between a single cable and a UTP (unshielded twisted pairs) cable was studied. The MATLAB and CST were employed to do the theoretical calculation and modeling respectively, and the comparison result proved the validity and accuracy of the proposed model. Based on the UTP model, the shielding layer was used to build the STP(shielded twisted-wire pairs) model according to the ARINC429 specification, and the crosstalk which caused by a large voltage transient happening on the adjacent power line on the aircraft was further analyzed. The development of best practices that deliver quality STEM education to all students, while minimizing achievement gaps, have been solicited by several national agencies. ABMS is a feasible approach to provide insight into global behavior based upon the interactions amongst agents and environments. In this review, we systematically surveyed several modeling and simulation approaches and discussed their applications to the evaluation of relevant theories in STEM education. It was found that ABMS is optimal to simulate STEM education hypotheses, as ABMS will sensibly present emergent theories and causation in STEM education phenomena if the model is properly validated and calibrated.

It is evident in previous works that operations research and mathematical algorithms can provide optimal or near-optimal solutions, whereas simulation models can aid in predicting and studying the behavior of systems over time and monitor performance under stochastic and uncertain circumstances. In this dissertation, a discrete event simulation framework is considered to replicate the dynamics, structure, and regulatory constraints placed on the officers in the U.S. Army. Using performance appraisal data provided by the United States Army Human Resources Command, we create a multi-objective response function that quantifies the human behavior associated with evaluating subordinates. Utilizing simulation-optimization techniques for model validation enables estimating unknown input parameters, such as human behavior, based on historical data. Operating room (OR) scheduling is important. Because of increasing demand for surgical services, hospitals must provide high quality care more efficiently with limited resources. The B.O.B. has 9 routes which provide transportation around and between the Kennesaw and Marietta campuses, as well as to select off-campus apartment complexes and shopping centers. We utilized a number of methodologies to recommend improvements to the efficiency and accessibility of the B.O.B. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)/Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment (GEWEX) Surface Radiation Budget (SRB) project produces and archives long-term datasets representative of this energy exchange system on a global scale. We consider unconstrained optimization problems where only “stochastic” estimates of the objective function are observable as replicates from a Monte Carlo simulation oracle. In the first study we assume that the function gradients are directly observable through the Monte Carlo simulation. Existing models of multi-server queues with system transience and non-standard assumptions are either too complex or restricted in their assumptions to be used broadly in practice. This paper proposes using data analytics, combining computer simulation to generate the data and an advanced non-linear regression technique called the Alternating Conditional Expectation (ACE) to construct a set of easy-to-use equations to predict the performance of queues with a scheduled start and end time. Our results show that the equations can accurately predict the queue performance as a function of the number of servers, mean arrival load, session length and service time variability. …
