Circadian rhythms are 24-hour fluctuations determining periodicity in a wide range of physiological processes, including neural activity and hormone secretion, which controls sleeping and feeding habits. Despite significant diurnal variation in human brain function, neuroscientists have rarely considered the effects of time-of-day on their studies. Moreover, there are interpersonal discrepancies in sleep-wake patterns, diurnal preferences, and daytime alertness (known as chronotypes), which can cause different diurnal profiles in human cognition and brain performance. Work-related wrist, hand, and finger injuries are highly prevalent in manufacturing and extractive industries. An analysis of mining-related hand injury data from over the past two decades (Alessa et al., 2020) showed that hand injuries caused by insufficient protection against impact loads (e.g. struck by accidents) were categorized with high severity. Existing literature lacks clear classification and quantification methods for the protection provided by impact-resistant gloves (i.e. metacarpal gloves). A new method to establish a quantitative measure of performance for commonly used metacarpal gloves was developed and evaluated.

The generalized quadratic assignment problem (GQAP) is the task of assigning a set of facilities to a set of locations such that the sum of the assignment and transportation costs is minimized. The facilities may have different space requirements, and the locations may have varying space capacities. However, factors other than muscle fatigue can also influence the stationarity of SEMG signals. This research examines the effect of top-to-bottom static compression load on the bulge of RSC containers. The study compares a control regular slotted container (RSC) constructed with corrugated fiberboard to tape-reinforced designs. The bulge reduction, achieved using various tape placements and conditioning environments, were measured. This research proposes a methodology for solving the problem of scheduling jobs with unequal ready times, unequal processing times, and unequal sizes on a single batch processing machine, with the objectives of minimizing makespan and maximum tardiness. Jobs must be placed into batches and scheduled on the machine such that both objectives are minimized, and machine capacity is not violated. “This research examines construction environments within manufacturing facilities, specifically semiconductor manufacturing facilities, and develops a new optimization method that is scalable for large construction projects with multiple execution modes and resource constraints. The model is developed to represent real-world conditions in which project activities do not have a fixed, prespecified duration but rather a total amount of work that is directly impacted by the level of resources assigned. Many cities around the world experience severe air pollution. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 7 million people die annually from exposure to small airborne Particulate Matter (PM) that is found in atmospheric pollution. Particulate matter in atmospheric pollution is one of six classifications of common air pollutants and is typically referred to as PM1 and PM2.5. Particulates designated as PM1 and PM2.5 refer to particles having aerodynamic diameters of 1 or 2.5 micrometer (µm), respectively.
