The previous team designed and built a functioning inverted fluorescence microscope (IFM) from scratch. Pedestal grinders are one of the most common machines found in machine shops today. The current industry standard for mounting a grinder is on a fixed single pillar, cast iron pedestal. A fixed pedestal allows for no vertical adjustment for shop users of different sizes and is a safety hazard. This report further defines this problem and proposes an iterative design process to meet the needs and wants of the customer. Project G.H.O.S.T aimed to produce a model transmission with a control system for high performance/racing electric vehicles to utilize the full capability of the electric motor at higher speed applications. Current electric vehicles have a large amount of torque and use a fixed gear ratio that compromises between both high and low speeds with performance peaking around 65 miles per hour. A typical electric motor used in this application has approximately 1800 ft-lbs of torque up to 5,000 rpm. During their lifecycle, wind turbines can be subjected to multiple hazard loads, such as high-intensity wind, earthquake, wave, and mechanical unbalance. Excessive vibrations, due to these loads, can have detrimental effects on energy production, structural lifecycle, and the initial cost of wind turbines. Vibration control by various means, such as passive, active, and semi-active control systems provide crucial solutions to these issues. We developed a novel control theory that enables semi-active controller tuning under the complex structural behavior and inherent system nonlinearity. The current landscape of manufacturing is evolving because of technology like additive manufacturing (AM). The mobility and compactness of AM are what make it desirable for many industry sectors. The U.S. Navy has shown interest in deploying AM on ships as it could alleviate their dependency on off-route docking to recharge supplies. However, the U.S. Navy's aspiration is currently hindered due to harsh ship-borne environments that degrade AM part quality.

Additive manufacturing (AM) has the ability to produce parts with complex geometries and internal features, however, for demanding applications such as the automotive and aerospace industries, it is crucial that the parts can meet the demanding functional and geometric requirements. Quality control for AM parts focuses on nondestructive methods of testing, but many of the current methods are expensive and time-consuming. The goal of this project was to design a luxury, aesthetically pleasing entertainment system with a TV lift mechanism that could be remote controlled. The design would also include a cooling cabinet for gaming systems, a remote locking system, and additional storage. Using a morphological chart and weighted decision matrix for each subsystem key features were determined to be included in the design.
