Autonomous Bottling And Packaging System - Mechanical Bottling Portion, Kathryn Gray
Autonomous Bottling And Packaging System - Mechanical Bottling Portion, Kathryn Gray
Honors College Theses
This report details the complete mechanical design of an autonomous bottling automation system. This system is fully integrated with a bottling and packaging system. The scope of the full project is to successfully bottle and cap twelve small bottles (approximately 68 cm3) in under three minutes and thirty seconds. The bottles shall be filled with an “electrolyte” and water mixture, and the mixture should be fully mixed. To complete this task, two tanks will dispense liquid (one electrolyte, and one water) into the bottles. Each tank shall have a measuring chamber, that will fill with the correct amount of volume …
Aerodynamic Design And Analysis Of A Modified 2006 Mazda Miata, William N. Recher
Aerodynamic Design And Analysis Of A Modified 2006 Mazda Miata, William N. Recher
Honors College Theses
Aerodynamic forces developed by automobiles have destabilizing effects at high speed. These forces tend to skew toward a vehicle’s rear which can present safety concerns, especially for rear-wheel-drive automobiles like the Mazda Miata. To address oversteer and high-speed instability, a vehicle’s design can be tailored to bring about aerodynamic balance and improve traction. LiDAR was used to bring the physical automobile into the digital space. Then, a splitter and diffuser were added to reduce the magnitude of the destabilizing forces. Next, the size and shape of the rear-wing required to balance the vehicle was calculated using a combination of parameters …
Structural Design And Fabrication Of A Test Chamber To Test Ppes For Effective Particle Filtration, Matthew G. Adharsingh
Structural Design And Fabrication Of A Test Chamber To Test Ppes For Effective Particle Filtration, Matthew G. Adharsingh
Honors College Theses
This research project aims to design and fabricate a test chamber for testing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure effective particle filtration. The chamber has a special purpose, which is to measure ultrafine and submicron particles concentration in the air and test the ergonomic design of PPE based on its effective filtration. The project also considers the environmental aspects of the chamber such as the level of noise and vibration. The chamber will be designed to measure upstream and downstream particle count. Initially, the chamber was going to be made from wood, but the research team encountered difficulties in the …
Implementation Of Static Rfid Landmarks In Slam For Planogram Compliance, Brennan L. Drake
Implementation Of Static Rfid Landmarks In Slam For Planogram Compliance, Brennan L. Drake
Honors College Theses
Autonomous robotic systems are becoming increasingly prevalent in everyday life and exhibit robust solutions in a wide range of applications. They face many obstacles with the foremost of which being SLAM, or Simultaneous Localization and Mapping, that encompasses both creation of the map of an unknown environment and localization of the robot in said environment. In this experiment, researchers propose the use of RFID tags in a semi-dynamic commercial environment to provide concrete landmarks for localization and mapping in pursuit of increased locational certainty. With this obtained, the ultimate goal of the research is to construct a robotics platform for …
Data Analysis To Evaluate The Performance Of Breathing Masks Used For Filtering Nano-Level Particles At Manufacturing Sites, Gracia M. Dardano
Data Analysis To Evaluate The Performance Of Breathing Masks Used For Filtering Nano-Level Particles At Manufacturing Sites, Gracia M. Dardano
Honors College Theses
The work performed in this research aims to evaluate the performance of commercially available breathing masks in filtering airborne nanoparticles at manufacturing sites. Nanoparticles are found virtually anywhere, from dust in a worksite to a simple sneeze. Therefore, they pose a substantial threat to human health as their velocity and volatility are high. This research analyzes if current efforts of breathing masks to hinder nanoparticles are effective, especially at manufacturing sites. Data has been collected in order to analyze the behavior of nanoparticles and to measure nanoparticle levels at manufacturing sites and its working environment. Data is statistical in nature …
Dynamic Simulation And Analysis Of Fsae Racer For Development Of Stability Control System, Stone D. Williford
Dynamic Simulation And Analysis Of Fsae Racer For Development Of Stability Control System, Stone D. Williford
Honors College Theses
Using Adams/Car software, a computer model of Georgia Southern University’s 2016 Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (FSAE) racecar was developed with the purpose of researching vehicle stability under dynamic conditions. Previous research in this field of study has been conducted to verify that Adams/Car simulations provide accurate results using data acquisition systems, so the major work for the current research has been to create an updated version of the vehicle designed and fabricated by Eagle Motor Sports. With this new model, vehicle roll, and pitch data as well as vehicle traction were collected during dynamic simulations. The overall goal for …
Supersonic Turbine Cascade Studies Using Computational Fluid Dynamics And Water Table Experiments, Shelby E. Nelson
Supersonic Turbine Cascade Studies Using Computational Fluid Dynamics And Water Table Experiments, Shelby E. Nelson
Honors College Theses
Design engineers use a variety of tools to perform calculations and to aid in the design process. For example, engineers designing gas turbines, specifically the aerodynamicists, use a combination of hand calculations, experimental data, and complex numerical codes to simulate air flow around each blade. Aerodynamicists designing gas turbines must predict the locations of the shocks to locate inefficiencies in the flow. In this thesis, three methods of calculating the shock angles are compared: analytical, experimental, and computational. Three different airfoil shapes are tested: a rectangular flat plate, a supersonic diamond, and a turbine airfoil. Cascade tests of the airfoil …
