Acoustic Filter For Biopharmacy, Nicholas Rivet
Acoustic Filter For Biopharmacy, Nicholas Rivet
Three Minute Thesis (3MT)
The design and development of a novel flow induced acoustically tuned “filterless” filter is proposed. The proposed research is on developing two or more prototypes that function as a cell retention device for perfusion cell cultures used in continuous manufacturing of monoclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins. This research will provide a non-invasive, cost-effective, flexible, and robust cell retention device for sustainable manufacturing of biologics.
Classroom Room Acoustics And Effect On Speech With And Without Face Coverings In Direct And Reverberant Sound Fields, Danny Hernandez-Borjas
Classroom Room Acoustics And Effect On Speech With And Without Face Coverings In Direct And Reverberant Sound Fields, Danny Hernandez-Borjas
Symposium of Student Scholars
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, life consisted of seeing people in dense public areas such as malls, parks, and schools. But the life these people once knew has changed with face coverings becoming more prevalent in society along with social distancing which caused these public places to limit their capacity. However, a certain faction of society-this being students, have been affected immensely due to this transition of life at school which includes mandatory face coverings in the classroom and social distancing. This research focuses on the effects on speech with and without face coverings in a classroom setting in certain …
Understanding Of Aerosol Transmission Of Covid 19 In Indoor Environments, Adama Barro, Cathal O'Toole, Jacob S. Lopez, Matthew Quinones, Sherene Moore
Understanding Of Aerosol Transmission Of Covid 19 In Indoor Environments, Adama Barro, Cathal O'Toole, Jacob S. Lopez, Matthew Quinones, Sherene Moore
Publications and Research
Our reason for discussing severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) or 2019 novel corona virus (Covid-19), is to understand its aerosol transmission characteristics in indoor spaces and to mitigate further spread of this disease by designing a new HVAC system. The problem that we are tackling is the spread of covid-19 droplets through aerosol transmission by looking at potential engineering solutions to the existing HVAC systems. The purpose is to eradicate the spread of the COVID-19 by testing indoor spaces in an effort to understand the effectiveness of ventilation controls. We believe that scientists and engineers have not …

Adaptable Clean Energy Laboratory, Joao Marcelo Rocha Belmonte, Marc D. Compere
Sustainability Conference
The Adaptable Clean Energy (ACE) Lab is a real-world, long term, test platform that will guide the courses of the Energy Systems track. The lab will provide realistic electrical and HVAC loads that mimic a solar powered office. The lab is a 20’ high cube shipping container modified with a door, windows, lights computers, air conditioner and appliances. The lab is Net-Zero and powered entirely from the sun. Two insulation test sections expose the exterior walls for research access to real external heat loads in a real building
