The Erichsen Cupping Test was used as a basis to design a dome tester. The intention of a dome tester is to test sheet metal material properties in all directions. This was done by clamping a piece of sheet metal and using a piston and hydraulic press to punch through the material. The force used to punch the material and the height of the deforming material can be gathered and the sheet metal properties can then be calculated. The natural environment poses a significant number of obstacles and dynamic settings that makes mobility difficult for those with physical and mobility impairments. To approach this problem, a suspension was designed using inspiration from the early Mars rovers developed by NASA for traversing the varied Martian landscape. The course of the project followed the direction of a start-up through problem identification, early design generation and review, and final design production. The objective of this study was to design a solar powered, unmanned aircraft to orbit in the upper Venus atmosphere and search for signs of alien life. Topics of flight conditions, signs of life, basic mission plan, source of power, design process, instrumentation, and final designs are covered. Solar energy is ideal for this type of mission because it is the only reliable and abundant energy source accessible for long term space travel. A new measurement process and tool is to be developed to improve the existing method for measuring runout on the commutators of brushed DC product.

After an armature is manufactured, the commutator is inspected by placing the completed rotor assembly in one of several non-standard measurement fixtures. An indicator is then positioned on the commutator. A trained operator proceeds to rotate the armature while taking runout and bar-to-bar measurement at various positions along the length of the commutator.

Different energy systems will be analyzed to determine the most economically appropriate energy material to recycle. A list of the energy systems to be analyzed includes catalyst converters, wind turbines, lithium ion batteries, photo-voltaic cells, and precious materials with high energy applications. For this project, Schaeffler reached out to students at the University of Akron to design an ergonomic pushcart for their operators. Operators at the plant must bend down to pick up or place torque converter components on and off the current carts. To solve this design issue, compression springs and tension springs were researched. The research found that compression springs were the more feasible design. After the design approach was selected, calculations were made, so spring parameters could be selected. This design project was dedicated to improving the existing design and making functional the QuickCut CNC Waterjet Cutter. The scope of work consisted of making the machine mobile and more structurally stable as well as programming the CNC controls. The project was started in the 2018/19 school year by a former mechanical engineering student. The subsystems consist of the frame, power, motor, water pump and associated plumbing, nozzle, abrasive feed system, x/y gantry, Arduino control system and the cutting bed. Many of these implants are ventricular assist devices, which is not always suitable for a patient. In this study, two solid composite rocket propellants were designed utilizing ProPEP, a rocket propellant formulation software common in the amateur and hobby rocketry communities. The two propellants were designed to optimize specific impulse relative to a literature propellant designed by 1020 Research Labs. The literature propellant was also tested in order to validate the design of experiment as well as the mixing and testing procedures. All three propellants, which includes the literature propellant RCS-P, and the two novel propellants AKR-P1 and AKR-P2 were characterized with static tests. This report details the design process of a lower limb exoskeleton leg brace for elderly people with walking disabilities or others with disabilities that limit mobility. While there are other similar products on the market, the general design can be improved and these improvements have been implemented into the design presented within. The laser ablation of metal carries relevance in a variety of engineering industries. This includes, but is not limited to, processes such as micromachining, or implementation on aircraft weaponry. The latter application is the reasoning for why aluminum is the specific metal in consideration, as it is commonly used for the construction of aircraft components.
