Sound Attenuation Characteristics In Relation To Compaction Degree In Sandy Soil, Liu Junbin, Long Shiguo

Journal of China & Foreign Highway

In order to investigate the effect of water content and compaction degree on the attenuation characteristics of sound waves in sandy soil, this paper first determined the particle gradation of the soil through a sieving test and identified its optimal water content through a compaction test. Then, six sets of ring knife specimens of sandy soil with different water contents and nine sets with varying compaction degrees were prepared.Ultrasonic testing was carried out using the acoustic transmission method, and the received acoustic signals were subjected to time-frequency analysis to extract acoustic characteristic parameters indicative of the compaction degree.Finite element simulation was employed to explore …

Journal of China & Foreign Highway

In order to ensure the smooth construction and long-term stable operation of silty clay sections in the Zhoukou –Pingdingshan highway project, this paper conducted one-dimensional creep tests on silty clay samples with different compaction degrees under different stress levels and studied the effect law of compaction degree on its long-term creep mechanical properties.By establishing the corresponding creep constitutive models,a theoretical basis was provided for the prevention and control of creep failure in silty clay subgrades in engineering practice.Research results show that:① Under the same stress level, with the increase of compaction degree, the instantaneous strain, creep strain, and total strain of the samples all decrease …

Journal of China & Foreign Highway

Existing methods for determining the humidity adjustment factor and dry-wet cycle reduction factor of the resilient modulus of subgrade soil are mostly based on laboratory tests that consume a large amount of manpower and time, and the prediction accuracy is limited due to the constraints of specification value ranges. In order to achieve fast and accurate prediction of these two factors, the effects of stress state, moisture content, and the number of dry-wet cycles on the resilient modulus of subgrade soil were investigated through laboratory dynamic triaxial tests.Based on existing literature, physical parameters, state parameters, and stress parameters of subgrade soil were selected, and an artificial neural network prediction …

Influence Of Urease-Induced Calcium Carbonate Precipitation On Frost Heave Characteristics Of Saline Soil, Li Jue, Wen Zili, Liu Zhengnan

Journal of China & Foreign Highway

This study investigated the impact of the soybean urease-induced calcium carbonate precipitation (SICP ) technique on frost heave characteristics of saline soil, specifically addressing the frost heave in saline soil used as a subgrade. The relationships between compaction degree, moisture content, volume ratio of the reaction liquid, and curing temperature with the frost heave rate of treated soil were explored. The results show that SICP significantly reduces the frost heave rate of soil samples by over 28%,with the most noticeable improvement occurring under conditions of higher compaction degree and lower moisture content.Additionally, the increased volume ratio of reaction liquid enhances reaction efficiency, while lower curing temperatures are crucial …

Permanent Deformation Prediction Model Of Subgrade Soil Under Freeze-Thaw Cycles Based On Lstm And Transformer, Zhang Anshun Feb 2025

Permanent Deformation Prediction Model Of Subgrade Soil Under Freeze-Thaw Cycles Based On Lstm And Transformer, Zhang Anshun

Journal of China & Foreign Highway

To accurately predict the permanent deformation of subgrade soil under the coupling effect of freeze-thaw cycles and traffic loads,a hybrid neural network model based on long short-term memory (LSTM ) and Transformer was proposed, building upon the results of dynamic triaxial tests. This model effectively captured the temporal dependencies and complex interactive effects among input variables, thereby significantly enhancing the accuracy and generalization ability of permanent deformation prediction of subgrade soil. The results indicate that higher confining pressure improves the resistance of subgrade soil to deformation, but its permanent deformation behavior is still significantly influenced by the magnitude of cyclic loading and the number of …

Pollution Characteristics Of Heavy Metals In Solid Waste Subgrade Filling Materials, Du Qianhui, Fu Wei, Zhang Junhui, Tang Qiang, Gu Fan

Journal of China & Foreign Highway

Using solid waste in the road engineering field for subgrade filling is an important approach for building green and low-carbon emission roads. However, most solid waste contains heavy metal pollutants to varying degrees, and heavy metals will be released under complex environments including rainfall infiltration and groundwater immersion, thereby causing pollution to the surrounding soil and groundwater if not handled properly. This paper reviewed the current status of research on four aspects, including the comprehensive use of solid waste materials in subgrade engineering, the leaching and migration behaviors of heavy metals in solid waste, and the prevention and control treatment of heavy metals in solid waste. It is found …

Journal of China & Foreign Highway

Coal strata feature soft lithology, low strength and easy softening under contact with water. During the subgrade excavation, the slopes of the coal strata often form a potential slip surface, which can control the stability of the overall slope. By taking the K132 landslide of Longchuan-Huaiji Expressway as an example, this paper comprehensively determined the characteristics of the landslide in coal strata, especially the characteristics of slip surfaces, by adopting the high-density resistivity and deep-hole displacement monitoring methods and combining geological drilling. The stability analysis results show that the carry-over factor method and Geoslope analysis can calculate the residual sliding …
