Application Of Atomically Precise Metal Nanoclusters In Electrocatalysis, Zhi-Hua Zhuang, Wei Chen

Journal of Electrochemistry

Metal nanoclusters (M NCs) consist of only several to a few hundred of metal atoms and possess core sizes less than 2 nm. Owing to the quantum size effect, the electronic states of M NCs evolve to discrete levels similar to the molecule energy gaps, other than a continuous density of states to produce plasmon characteristic of bulk metal nanoparticles (M NPs). In comparison with the conventional M NPs, M NCs exhibit dramatically unique electronic and optical properties, such as molecule-like energy gaps, strong photoluminescence and high catalytic properties, which make them promising for potential application in numerous fields, such …

However,as a widely used Cr(III) precursor, chromium chloride hydrate (CrCl3·6H2O), still contains water. In the presence of water, Cr3+ will form a complex coordination structure with water molecules ([Cr(H2O)6]3+), which is a stable octahedral structure and is difficult to be directly reduced to chromium metal. Therefore, coordination agents should be added into the bath. In this work, the effect of 18-Crown-6 additive on …

Porous-Electrode Theory Of Lithium Ion Battery: Old Paradigm And New Challenge, Xiao-Xiao Wang, Zi-Rui Zhou, Qiang Shan, Zeng-Ming Zhang, Jun Huang, Yu-Wen Liu, Sheng-Li Chen

Journal of Electrochemistry

A critical review on the porous electrode theory developed by Newman and his colleagues is presented. We propose several ideas for further development of this theory by analyzing its limitations. The classical Newman theory does not consider ion steric effect in describing ion transport in electrolyte solutions, which can be amended by a newly developed ion-vacancy coupled charge transfer model for ion transport in concentrated solutions. Ion transport in solid particles of active materials is essentially an ion-electron coupled transport process, and its rationality is verified by comparing the calculated and experimental diffusion coefficients of Li + ion in intercalation …
