Monte Carlo based numerical simulations were performed to study photoemission from GaAs and diamond. The central goal was to assess the potential for NEA photoemission from diamond, and to predict its characteristics. The GaAs material system was also included in the simulation study to provide: (i) calibration and validation of the numerical model developed by carefully matching the simulation results with available experimental data, and (ii) quantitative comparisons between the response characteristics of diamond and the better known GaAs system.

Electrochemical-ESR technique with spin trap phenyl-t-butyl nitrone(PBN)was used to study the intermediates of electroreduction of allyl alcohol at platinized platinum electrode in acidic alcohol-aqua solution. Hydrogen and allyl group and(or)propyl group radicals were identified by a hyperfine spectrum of the radical adducts, and that provided a direct evidence for the presence of these radicals in the electroreduction of allyl alcohol.

Studies On The Charge And Discharge Reaction Of Li/Lini0.3Co0.7O2 Battery, Fupjng Zhang

The charge and discharge reaction of Li/LiNi0.3Co0.7O2 battery have been studied by using CV,CT,XRD and GCP. It is shown that the discharge capacity of the cell reaches 120-140 mA·h·g-1 in the 4.30-3.00 V in 1 mol/L LiClO4/PC electrolyte system. The discharge mechanism involve a two-step Li+ intercalation reaction. The thermodynamic data such as ΔG,ΔS, ΔH, of the reaction are given. Furthermore, the changes of the D or σi of Li+ with its composition have been discussed.

The behaviour of electrochemical oxidation of the reduced nicotinamide coenzyme NADH on glassy carbon was studied and some kinetic parameters were measured by means of voltammometry in the N-dimethylformamide (DMF) and 1,4-dioxane media respectively. The eletrochemical oxidation of NADH shows completely irriversable both in the two solvents,and the diagnostic experiments support that the process involves a fast chemical step.The oxidation rate and the diffusion coefficient of NADH in DMP are smaller than those in 1,4-dioxane, but the response current is more stable in DMF. The experimental results are discussed by solvent effects.

Study On The Growth Process Of Lead Dioxide On Lead-Antimony Electrodes By Impedance Tracing Method, Guolin Wei, Hongxin Yang, Jiarong Wang

The growth process of PbO2 formed by the oxidation of PbSO4 in the anodic film on lead-(1,3,5,7)wt% antimony electrodes was investigated with impedance tracing method of single frequency and the current-time transient method. The influence of antimony on this process was studied.The simulation curves obtained for capacity-time transients fit the experimental results very well. It has been shown that the mentioned growth process is a two-dimentional instantaneous nucleation and growth process. Antimony will inhibit the growth of PbO2 nucleus but enhance its nucleation.

Purple membrane (PM, λ" role="presentation">λmax" role="presentation">max 570 nm) of H. halobium on treatment with sulphuric acid changes its colour to blue (λ" role="presentation">λmax" role="presentation">max 608 nm). The purple chromophore can be regenerated from the blue chromophore by exogeneous addition of anions such as CI−" role="presentation">− and HPO42−" role="presentation">2−4. Chloride ion is found to be more effective than the dibasic phosphate ion in regenerating the purple chromophore. Nevertheless, one thing common to the anion regeneration is that both CI−" role="presentation">− and HPO42−" role="presentation">2−4 show marked pH effect. At pH 1.0 the efficiency of …

The electrochemistry of cobalt(Ⅱ)-1,10-phenanthroline Co(Phen)22+ complex and its ability to electrocatalyze the reduction of nitrite were studied, we found that this complex could act as a catalyst in alkaline or neutral solution for nitrite reduction. We have investigated the effect of the complex composition on electrocatalytic ability. The effects of pH value, complex concentration, regeneration and activation of electrocatalyst on the catalytic current have been studied and discussed.

The electrocatalytic oxidation behavior of some C2 compounds(alcohols, aldehydes and carboxylic acids) on a Pt/Sbad electrode prepared in-situ or ex-situ UPD was investigated using pontential sweep and rotating disc electrode methods. It is confirmed that Pt/Sbad electrode show the most electrocatalytical active to the oxidation of aldehyde functional group and only a little activity to the oxidation of hydroxyl group, but no activity for the oxidation of carboxyl group.
The experimental results show that the activity of the Pt/Sbad electrode prepared by ex-situ UPD is higher than that prepared by in-situ UPD.

The authors investigated the electrochemical reduction of oxygen to hydrogen peroxide in 0.05 mol/L H2SO4 solution by the trickle bed electrode using graphite chip. The bed dimension was 14×5×0.6 cm. The current efficiency and the concentration of H2O2 in the catholyte were determined at various current strengths and various rates of adding the electrolyte. The Catalytic effects of Ag(Ⅰ) on toluene oxidation by Mn(Ⅲ) as well as the anodic generation of Mn(Ⅲ) were investigated. The rates of toluene oxidation were first order with respect to both Ag(Ⅰ) and Mn(Ⅲ). Ag(Ⅱ) formed on the surface of the platinum anode when Ag(Ⅰ) was present in the anolyte, which catalyic the Mn(Ⅱ) to Mn(Ⅲ) in solution.

Cold-roll-milling has been evaluated as a technique for preparing porous LiAlO2 matrices for use as a molten carbonate fuel cell electrolyte matrix. This technique produces reliable electrolyte structures with the following characteristics and advantages: ease of handling, uniform thickness, using nontoxic inorganic solvents, controlled pore size distribution, and ability to be impregnated with the alkali carbonate without fracrure.

Ordered monolayers of S- and N-containing amphipathic corrosion inhibitors were depoitod onto the surfaces of carbon steel electrode with super-molecular assembly technique. The effect of molecular aggregation of monolayers on carbon steel corrosion in 0.05 mol·cm-3 H2SO4 and the mechanisms of these inhibitors were discussed in details. It was found that the transport of hydrated hydrogen ion to the surface of steel depends strongly on the inhibitor molecular aggregation in the monolayers.

A new technique for continuous, real-time, in-situ detection of natural corrosion of aluminum alloys is presented. The technique is a generalized version of attenuated total reflectance (ATR) spectroscopy, that combines optical fibers and a Michelson interferometer spectrometer to make evanescent wave absorption measurements. Aluminum hydroxide is one of the major corrosion products of aluminum. Absorption spectra of powdered samples of aluminum corrosion, in the spectral region around three micrometers have been studied and compared with the spectra from pure powdered aluminum hydroxide. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of material characteristics uncertainties on Radar Cross Section (RCS) predictions. Many methods have been developed to predict the RCS of metal objects, but for material coated objects, these methods depend on the accuracy of measured material characteristics. Material characteristics of three dielectrics were measured by two separate X-band waveguide set-ups. RCS measurements were then made to evaluate the accuracy of RCS predictions using these measured material characteristics. Anode catalysts of methanol oxidation for direct methanol fuel cell, Pt/C and PtRu/C, ere prepared by chemical reduction in this work. The results indicated that the PtRu/C showed higher electrocatalytic activity than that of Pt/C. It was explained by XRD and XPS analyses that the existence of Ru enhanced the catalytic activity for electrochemical oxidation of methanol.

A photoelectrochemical investigation has been carried out on AISI 304 stainless steeI AV modulated passive film in 0.1mol/L Na2B4O7 and 0.5 mol/L Na2SO4 solution. Photo current curve depends on the potential, passive condition and testing solutions. The results of the measurements indicate that the photoresponse is determined by the defects in the electronic structure of the films whenthe defects lead to localized states in the bandgap region. It is concluded that the passive film on AISI 304 stainless steel is in a highly disordered amorphous state.

A modified electrolytic manganese dioside doped with Bi (Bi-EMD)wasprepared and examined by XRD and XPS. It is predominantly γ-mnO2 and the Bi exists as Bi2O3 in the modified material. The content of Bi in Bi-EMDs increased with the increasement of Bi3+ concentration in electrolyte, and reached 14.3(wt)% from the bath of 0.008 mol·L-1 Bi3+ used. Some Zn/Bi-EMD prototype batteries of AA size were assembled, and which cycle life tests showedthat the Bi-EMD has better reversibility.

Horseradish peroxidase (HRP) was immobilized by crosslinkage on the glassycarbon electrode to prepare the enzyme electrode, where the reduction of H2O2 was studied in 1,4-dioxane media. It was shown that HRP electrode can catalyze the reduction of H2O2 without anymedintor, however, as an activator, o-phenylenediamine can promote the bio-catalysis. In thepresence of the activator, the parallel reactions occurred on the enzyme electrode. Self-assembling technique is a versatile approach to the preparation of monolayersof well-defined composition, structure, thickness and physicochemical properties. Different aspects, such as wettability, adhesion, corrosion, tribology, electrontransfer, protein adsorption, molecular recognition, and applications of SAMs are widely studied. The identification of the phase composition of the anodic film on Pb formed in H2SO4 solution in PbO potential region has long been argued, together with the explanation of thecathodic peak at about -0.9V (Hg/HgSO4) in the linear sweep voltammogram for a Pb-H2SO4 system. The electronic properties of the passive film on REBAR electrodes in simulatedcement pore solution (pH=9.0~13.8) have been investigated using in-situ photoelectrochemical methods. The results show that the passive film is composed of mixed oxides of ferrum, and it is an amorphous, n-type semiconductive film. The structure of LiCoO2 synthesized with tartaric acid and the behavior of itsrechargeable Lithium battery have been studied by XRD, XPS, CV, CT. It has been shown that LiCoO2 has a space group R3m with hexagonal parameters a=0.2810 nm, c=1.4088 nm. Low-spin state Co3+ configuration in LiCoO2 has been suggested. Also, Li2O, was identified onits surface. Furthermore, the capacity and the middle working voltage of its Lithium battery are about 120 mA·h·g-1 and 3.8 V, respectively. X-ray photoelectron spectrum and characteristics of the capacity, versus thevoltage of the thin film devices are measured to study the surface states of the zinc sulfide thin film.The transient electroluminescence excited by pulses shows the relaxation luminance peaks during anon-exponential decay process of the characteristic transitions activated by Er3+ in the ZnS directcurrent thin film electroluminescence (DCTFEL) devices.The surface structures of ZnS:Cu, Cl, Erfilm with the absorption of oxygen, and the effect of the surface states on the relaxation luminance ofthe devices are discussed.
