To solve the initial construction cable forces of a completed cable-stayed bridge,a method that combines unstressed cable length and forward-iteration is proposed.Firstly,the unstressed length of each cable is calculated according to the completed bridge state.Then,the initial cable forces are obtained by using the unstressed cable length for the forward analysis.The initial construction cable forces are adjusted by difference iteration.Finally,the initial construction cable forces are fine-tuned according to the deformation of the pylon deformation to obtain the bridge completion state that satisfies the deviation requirements.The proposed method is employed in a cable-stayed bridge with a known completion state to calculate the …

To clarify the influence of stress ratio on the fatigue life of high strength steel wire and verify the applicability of the fracture mechanics model to evaluate the fatigue life of steel wire,based on the assumption of equating wire corrosion pits to notches,fatigue tests were carried out on steel wire samples with different prefabricated notch depths at different stress ratios,and a fatigue life empirical equation considering the stress ratio effect was established.The results show that the fatigue life of the steel wire samples is significantly influenced by the stress ratio,which decreases with the increase in the stress ratio.The increase in …

An extensive laboratory test program was conducted to analyze and compare the cation exchange processes in three different varieties of sodium bentonite (Na-B) geosynthetic clay liners (GCLs) over increased conditioning durations up to 32 days and investigate the effects of temperature, solution strength, and applied stress. The goal of this test program was to establish whether the variables of temperature, solution strength, and applied stress improved or degraded the engineering properties of GCLs in laboratory testing and municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill applications. Multifunctional, modular, and scalable water treatment technologies that operate without chemical additives are crucial for addressing global water pollution challenges. While traditional membrane-based separation processes are crucial for ensuring clean water supplies, they primarily focus on pollutant removal rather than on the upcycling of pollutants into valuable resources. High Friction Surface Treatment (HFST) is a roadway remediation technique used to improve pavement’s coefficient of friction, to enhance roadway safety. The application of HFSTs has repeatedly demonstrated the ability to significantly reduce crashes in both wet and dry conditions. Typically, epoxy-resins and calcined bauxite aggregate are used in HFST treatment. However, the high material costs and scarcity of calcined bauxite render this form of HFST an expensive and limited option for roadway rehabilitation. In order to study the influence of short-term aging temperature on the properties of sealant,a sealant was prepared,and field construction conditions were simulated.The properties of the sealant before and after short-term aging at 180‒220 ℃ were tested.The viscoelastic properties,physicochemical properties,and microstructures of the sealant were studied,and the mechanism of property changes was discussed.The results show that the cone penetration and flow value of the aged sealant decrease,while the softening point and elastic recovery rate increase.Aging at high temperature (>180 ℃) for a short time and low temperature (160 ℃) for a long time will cause obvious property changes.The tensile …

The municipal ecological ditches have the basic functions of accumulating water for infiltration in the rainy season and conserving moisture in the dry season.However,the design of loess backfill in ecological ditches is based on no evidence,which often leads to landscape vegetation drowning in the rainy season or dying in the dry season.For this reason,a study was carried out by remoulding loess with a small-size capillary water rise height test,a large-size water-holding characteristic model test,and an unsaturated numerical analysis.The results show that the final capillary water rise height of the soil column can reach 100 cm when the dry density is …
