Measuring The Electrical Properties Of 3d Printed Plastics In The W-Band, Noah Gregory May 2022

Measuring The Electrical Properties Of 3d Printed Plastics In The W-Band, Noah Gregory

Electrical Engineering Undergraduate Honors Theses

3D printers are a method of additive manufacturing that consists of layering material to produce a 3D structure. There are many types of 3D printers as well as many types of materials that are capable of being printed with. The most cost-effective and well documented method of 3D printing is called Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM). FDM printers work by feeding a thin strand of plastic filament through a heated extruder nozzle. This plastic is then deposited on a flat, typically heated, surface called a print bed. The part is then built by depositing thin layers of plastic in the shape …

Lithium And The Foreseeable Future, Paolo Vargas May 2018

Lithium And The Foreseeable Future, Paolo Vargas

Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Honors Theses

This paper aims to clarify the uncertainties regarding worldwide lithium resource availability in the years to come. Previous studies made on the subject are presented with some ambiguity and this work intends to fill the gaps. The information and data presented throughout this script with respect to global lithium resources and reserves are mostly based on data released by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). Lithium resource availability in the future is a point of paramount significance primarily for the automotive, portable electronics, and the power generation industry. Since, a change of supply would ultimately affect the price of lithium, …

Development Of A Structured Concrete Thermocline Thermal Energy Storage System, Bradley M. Brown Dec 2011

Development Of A Structured Concrete Thermocline Thermal Energy Storage System, Bradley M. Brown

Graduate Theses and Dissertations

The past couple of decades have shown a concern when considering the way the world obtains its power. The focus has been switching from fossil fuels that have been used for hundreds of years to renewable energy sources, such as the sun. Solar energy is readily and infinitely available for harnessing. One problem with solar energy, though, is its inability to be used during the night time and during cloud covered weather. A solution to this problem is the use of energy storage mechanisms. For solar plants that use solar thermal energy (concentrating solar power plants), thermal energy storage (TES) …
