Fundamental Concepts Required By Electromechanical Technology Graduates For Entry-Level Employment In Related Industry, Julio R. Garcia Jan 1988

Fundamental Concepts Required By Electromechanical Technology Graduates For Entry-Level Employment In Related Industry, Julio R. Garcia

Dissertations and Theses @ UNI

The objective of this study was to determine the fundamental electromechanical concepts needed by electromechanical technology graduates to perform efficiently at the entry-level employment in related industry. An extensive review of the literature indicated that it was necessary to prepare electromechanical technologists with emphasis given to the area of electrical/electronics technology, mechanical technology, fluids, and fiber optics. Thusly prepared, these graduates would be able to service modern industrial equipment and would have greater opportunities in the job market than at present.

A Likert format questionnaire was developed to gather the necessary data. The survey instrument consisted of 91 concept statements …

The Importance Of Computer-Based Subject Matter Topics For Graduates Of An Undergraduate Manufacturing Technology Program As Perceived By Practicing Manufacturing Engineers, Anthony Cecil Favre Jan 1988

The Importance Of Computer-Based Subject Matter Topics For Graduates Of An Undergraduate Manufacturing Technology Program As Perceived By Practicing Manufacturing Engineers, Anthony Cecil Favre

Dissertations and Theses @ UNI

The problem of this study was to identify the perceptions of practicing manufacturing engineers regarding the importance of computer-based subject matter topics required for graduates of undergraduate manufacturing technology programs. This problem is reflective of the literature which indicates that there is a need for the further development of manufacturing science curricula in order to provide the types of knowledge needed in the emerging computer-based manufacturing field.

A questionnaire was used to collect data. It was mailed to 425 randomly selected practicing manufacturing engineers. Thirteen were returned as undeliverable, thus reducing the number to 412. The size of the sample …

A Status Study And Critical Analysis Of Present And Future Program Goals For Industrial Arts In The State Of Nebraska, Kennard G. Larson Jan 1987

A Status Study And Critical Analysis Of Present And Future Program Goals For Industrial Arts In The State Of Nebraska, Kennard G. Larson

Dissertations and Theses @ UNI

This study was conducted to describe the present status and the desired future of the industrial arts programs in the public schools in the State of Nebraska. Information concerning program goals was obtained from a descriptive survey sample of industrial arts teachers, secondary school principals, school board presidents, and industrial arts teacher educators. Two dimensions were examined: the importance of 23 program goal statements as perceived in the present industrial arts program, and the importance of the same goal statements as perceived for the industrial arts program in the future.

The outcome of the study was a compilation of data …

A Unit Of Instruction In Fiber-Optic Communication, Ronald Struble Apr 1986

A Unit Of Instruction In Fiber-Optic Communication, Ronald Struble

Graduate Research Papers

The purposes of this research project were to:

1. Review the historical developments, components, and applications of optical fiber in communications.

2. Develop a laboratory exercise to demonstrate fiber-optic communication.

3. Construct equipment to demonstrate the use of fiber optics in communication. This equipment is used in the laboratory exercise.

Enrollment Of Girls In Industrial Arts Courses From 1977-82 In Iowa High Schools, Ronald A, Wunderlich Jun 1983

Enrollment Of Girls In Industrial Arts Courses From 1977-82 In Iowa High Schools, Ronald A, Wunderlich

Graduate Research Papers

Girls have enrolled in high school industrial arts classes for many years. In a thesis completed in 1958 (Haynes, 1958), it was recorded that 16 percent of Iowa's high schools enrolled girls in industrial arts courses. Today, it is a rare exception to find a high school industrial arts program that does not enroll girls. From district to district and year to year the numbers vary. It is the intention of this study to determine if the enrollment of girls is decreasing, increasing, or remaining constant. This information is needed to provide a further understanding of the enrollment of girls …

Noise Pollution In The Industrial Arts Laboratory, James A. Sundell Jun 1979

Noise Pollution In The Industrial Arts Laboratory, James A. Sundell

Graduate Research Papers

Industrial arts instructors have always recognized the need for a pleasant and safe environment in their laboratories. Advancements in technology have increased noise pollution in this environment.

Sounds have a useful and important place in the laboratory; also, they can have adverse effects. The instructor can tell immediately if a machine is not performing correctly by the sound it emits, while the operation of the same machine can distort an important verbal communication. Excessive decibel levels may be generated at different times threatening the psychological and physiological well-being of teachers and students (Brown, 1979; Hicks, 1973; Swogger, 1973).

Reduction of …

An Evolution In Education Individualization And Learning Activity Packets In Junior High Woodworking, Joseph Wysocki Jul 1972

An Evolution In Education Individualization And Learning Activity Packets In Junior High Woodworking, Joseph Wysocki

Graduate Research Papers

The purposes of the study are:

(1) To show how education has evolved throughout American history; it has always taken the best of the past with it and amalgamated- it into its present; individualization has presently advantages which today's society needs to replace conventional programs.

(2) To explain the rationale for individualization.

(3) To give an explanation of the process of making learning activity packages.

(4) To provide learning packets for a course on machines in industrial education, namely lathe and band saw.

Preparing And Electroplating Of Nonmetallic Materials, Dale A. Terhune Jun 1972

Preparing And Electroplating Of Nonmetallic Materials, Dale A. Terhune

Graduate Research Papers

The purposes of this study are:

1. To research the development of electroplating non-metallic objects.

2. To discover the basic ingredients of electroplating.

3. To understand the chemical reactions which must take place to cause the ionization and electron flow.

4. To take a field trip to an industry involved in the process of electroplating.

5. To gain some background in the field of electroplating which could be developed into a unit of instruction in an industrial arts program.

6. To develop some degree of skill in the production of electroplating of non-metallic objects in small quantities.

An Analysis Of Research Methods In Projects In Industrial Arts, Loren Seebach, Jim Sherman Oct 1967

An Analysis Of Research Methods In Projects In Industrial Arts, Loren Seebach, Jim Sherman

Graduate Research Papers

The writers agreed that the basic problem of this study was to determine methods and procedures which are best suited and most valuable to the student pursuing the required work involved in the successful completion of the Projects course, Industrial Arts 33:270. It is hoped that these methods will prove to be of value to all research work in the Industrial Arts field. More specifically, the following questions should be kept in mind while reading this study:

1. What are the research methods and procedures used in the successful completion of the work required in Industrial Arts 33:270?

2. Of …
